During a recent interview with Denise Salcedo, former WWE United States Champion Baron Corbin, who is now going by the name of Bishop Dyer, says that Pat McAfee should not be part of of the Undisputed WWE Title Match at WrestleMania 42 between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.
“Pat’s a weird anomaly because he’s not a celebrity to the full extent, he’s not a wrestler, he’s kind of just that guy that is in between and has his finger in everything whether it be comedy, entertainment, sports, wrestling, all that. It’s not like Travis Scott all over again that ruined the main event. I’m bummed out a little bit with the story that is being told between Cody and Randy because I think with the history that they have and Randy being the mentor and Randy having him throw Cody out and throwing his brother out of the Royal Rumble, that’s the story we need to be telling. Why do we have this anonymous phone call and it turns out to be McAfee? To me, the purest form of wrestling should be the main event of WrestleMania, that should be a one-on-one competition down the line except for a heel trying to take some shortcuts or whatever. That’s the thing to me that shouldn’t be touched. If you’re going to get Pat involved, get him involved in something else, you know? Not the main event of WrestleMania.”
Dyer also talks on Tom Brady’s comments about WWE being cute and more. You can watch the full interview below:
Dyer was McAfee’s roommate when the two played for the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts. McAfee defeated Dyer at SummerSlam 2022 when Dyer was wrestling under the gimmick of Happy Corbin.
Dyer is currently one-half of the MLW World Tag Team Champions with Donovan Dijak, wrestling under the team name of The Skyscrapers.
McAfee returned to WWE at last Friday’s SmackDown, turning heel and aligning with Randy Orton. Since the angle took place, there has been negative feedback from wrestling fans, in which McAfee addressed during the April 6 episode of his Pat McAfee Show.
