WWE Hall of Famer: Vince McMahon will be ‘instrumental’ in creative at WrestleMania 42

Jim Ross believes Vince McMahon will be involved with WWE WrestleMania 42.

During the latest edition of the Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross and Conrad Thompson discussed the recent text messages between WWE CEO and President Nick Khan and Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque” made public as part of the shareholders lawsuit.

The texts between Levesque and Khan noted frustrations over the creative direction of the company and Levesque’s father-in-law Vince McMahon, revealing McMahon still had some say in the creative process.

Despite the frustrations shared in the documentation, Ross told Thompson that he believes McMahon will be “instrumental” in creative for WrestleMania 42 when asked if the former executive chair could return to the company in any fashion:

Absolutely. No doubt about it. I don’t even have no question in my mind. It’s the old cliche, where there’s smoke often times there’s fire and there’s been a lot of smoke regarding VKM in WWE and what his future may or may not be and how he can still contribute.

He’s a big picture guy and that takes a lot of detail work and planning, but he can do that. He can make all that happen. And you know he’s hungry.

I don’t think there’s any doubt in my mind that Vince will be instrumental in this year’s WrestleMania as far as creative is concerned.

Ross has been signed with AEW since 2019, but had been with WWE for decades in both a commentary and backstage role, most notably head of talent relations at one stage.

When asked if Ari Emanuel and Mark Shapiro would be willing to formally welcome McMahon back into the fold, the WWE Hall of Famer responded:

Absolutely. They would not be good businessmen if they weren’t willing to entertain that idea. Because they realize that McMahon’s the guy that built the whole damn thing. He has a vision that nobody else has.

Vince McMahon is currently at the center of an ongoing lawsuit as he faces allegations of sex trafficking filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant.
