It is Wednesday, my dudes…you know what that means!

We kick things off with a video package looking back at last week and the journey to Darby Allin becoming the new AEW World Champion. From there we head to ringside to hear from the new champion…or maybe not, brother, because here comes MJF! He makes a beeline for the ring with a mic, running down Darby for what he calls the “Seattle Screwjob.” He points out that he wasn’t ready after an all out war with Kenny Omega at Dynasty, before calling the fans dumb (among other things) for thinking Darby could beat him at 100 percent.

He then hypes himself as, among other things, the man who made sure Hangman Adam Page could never challenge for the title again and the man who “kicked out of the One-Winged Angel like it was nothing” before telling Darby he doesn’t care about his title match against the Psycho Killer. If Darby has an ounce of dignity he’ll give MJF a rematch.

Out instead is Kevin Knight, the new TNT Champion smirking at the former World Champion as he heads to the ring. He calls MJF whiny (among other things!) which gets a chant of, well, “little b—h” from the Portland crowd. Kevin says the Jet has arrived in Portland, and he is too fly. Before MJF gets to hating, he should ask himself…don’t the new champ look clean with the title around his waist?

When you’re a fighting champion you’re willing to put the title on the line. MJF talks about being screwed, but Kevin had him pinned for what seemed like an eternity just weeks ago. If anyone should talk about being cheated, Kevin should be “Two Belts Jet” by now.

MJF addresses some “facts” that Knight laid out, before stating that he beat Kevin with a Heatseeker for an “easy dub.” If anyone should be World Champion, it should be MJF and MJF alone. He respects the new hardware though, telling the crowd to give it up for the new TNT Champion. He says the title fits him like a glove, as he seems the TNT Championship type…someone with a ceiling, a good hand, etc etc. He then claims The Jet is not AEW World Championship material.

Knight responds to this by saying that for all that talk, MJF doesn’t seem the type to fit the TNT Championship as a workhorse title, as someone who’s been handed everything to him. He offers a challenge to MJF to face him, to which MJF initially says he’s already proven he’s better than Kevin Knight…but his little speech has sold MJF on the title, so if Kevin puts that belt on the line he will accept. Knight is good with this, and as this is Rip City he will rip MJF a new one here tonight! MJF calls for a ref who comes to the ring, and it seems we’re getting an impromptu TNT Title match…or maybe not, brother, as MJF rolls out of the ring.

He tells The Jet he will dance with the devil next week, kid. MJF’s music hits as he retreats up the ramp, and we head backstage. The Demand are here and so is Jericho, as we find out there will be a six-man tag (sorry Renee, but I’m calling it a trios match). Jericho has yet to reveal his tag partners as Ricochet talks about him being the man who got his a– beat by Ricochet…as he finishes that line Jericho informs him that he went and got that phrase trademarked. Copyright law is a tricky thing, folks. He shows off a t-shirt with the phrase, mocking Ricochet some more as he tells The Demand that he doesn’t have to find two guys that like him to face the trio…just two people that don’t like Ricochet.

With that, we head back to ringside. Brody King makes his entrance first, followed by “Blackheart” Lio Rush as we get this opening contest underway!

Lio Rush vs. Brody King

We overhear Lio saying “it’s not his house anymore, it’s never been his house” before King charges toward him. Rush gets to his feet to square up with the big man, taking a bite out of his hand…and this just riles Brody up as he sends the Blackheart out of the ring. He sets Lio up on a chair before charging toward him…but Rush gets out of the way just in time, forcing Brody to collide with the barricade instead! Lio stays on the attack as we go to ad break.

-AD BREAK (ON HBO MAX)-

Back in the ring, Brody starts to get back into it as he goes for a clothesline on Rush, but he is still favoring the arm after what happened earlier. This allows Lio to drop the arm onto the top rope, followed by a jawbreaker hanging up the big man. He remarks something about “getting real strong” before going for a Death Valley Driver on the apron, but King fights him off before going for a Ganso Bomb. Rush shoves him off the apon, leaping around in the ring for a dive on Brody. Rush slides back into the ring and climbs the turnbuckle as King slides back in as well, only to be taken down by the Blackheart for a nearfall.

King gets back into it, dropping Rush down hard and follows with a Ganso Bomb for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Brody King

King doesn’t celebrate for long, getting a mic to say that he’s keeping an eye on the world title match and looking for his shot regardless of who comes out as champion. He also tells Darby that he’s proud of him, but not proud enough not to bring the violence if he’s the one to face. Backstage, we hear from Tommaso Ciampa ahead of the main event. He addresses all the things people have told him he is not, saying he’s not big enough or strong enough or “championship material” before stating what he is. He wraps up by saying we’ve never seen anyone more prepared that Ciampa is tonight…and to ask Darby if he wants this more than Ciampa needs it. He walks off, and we go to commercial.

-Commercial Break-

Backstage we hear from Adam Copeland, who offers a case as to why he and Cage deserve one last shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championship. He makes the challenge for a New York Street Fight at Double Or Nothing, offering an additional stipulation: if FTR beat them, Cope and Cage will retire as a team. He thinks the champs will consider that a good offer.

With that we head back to ringside, where Hikaru Shida makes her entrance for our next match. We get an inset promo from Shida about showcasing the Japanese style against Mina Shirakawa, who makes her way out to get this match underway!

Mina Shirakawa vs. Hikaru Shida

Mina gets a side headlock on Shida, who hits the ropes to break free. Mina blocks an arm drag by Hikaru, sending her to the ropes for some forearms…until Shida grabs her by the hair to send Mina to the mat. Mina follows in kind before they reach an impasse with a double dropkick and a staredown.

Mina mocks Shida with a pose before dodging a kick, bringing the former Women’s World Champion to the corner before taking her to the mat with a sling blade. She lands some mounted punches and goes for a cover, but Shida counters for a nearfall. Mina sends her to the ropes, but takes a clothesline by Hikaru as we go to ad break.

-AD BREAK (ON HBO MAX)-

Back in the ring, Mina starts to build up momentum as she takes Shida down before landing a torneo for a two count. She continues to go to work on Shida, focusing on the leg before going for a figure four leglock. Shida fights it off but takes a few shots to the knee before heading out of the ring. Mina follows her out, targeting the leg for more damage…only to be caught with a headscissors sending her into the ring steps!

She hoists Mina up onto the apron, with Shirakawa trying to fight out before being dropped with a Meteora onto the hardest part of the ring! She brings Mina back into the ring, favoring her knee before going up top for another Meteora followed by a big kick…but it’s only good for two! Mina starts fighting back, sending Shida away before they trade offense. Hurriken rattles Shida enough for a missile dropkick by Mina, who goes up for a sling blade.

Mina with the cover for a nearfall, and she immediately transitions into a figure four leglock…but Shida rolls over to the ropes, forcing a break. Mina gets into it with the ref, which allows Shida a chance to go for the kendo stick.

Mina catches her and pulls it away, only to deal with Statlander on the apron…and with the ref distracted checking on Shida, Stat lands a kendo shot on Mina before Shida takes her down with the Falcon Arrow for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Hikaru Shida

Shida and Stat celebrate as we get a look at Kazuchika Okada, who defends the AEW International Championship against Konosuke Takeshita at Double Or Nothing. Okada says Takeshita is still just a boy, and he will regret challenging the Rainmaker for the title…b—h.

-Commercial Break-

We get some hype for the upcoming Playoff Palooza edition of Collision before heading to ringside, where Will Ospreay makes his entrance for our next match. Mark Davis makes his way out next, and this battle between former United Empire teammates gets underway!

Will Ospreay vs. Mark Davis

Davis gets the jump on Ospreay, sending him out of the ring for some more damage before Will fights back. He sends Davis out of the ring with a dropkick, but Davis blocks a dive. Ospreay turns it around by sending Davis into the ring steps before landing a flying headscissors to force him down to the floor.

He brings Mark back into the ring for a springboard elbow, but it’s only good for a two count. Ospreay struggling a little, and this allows Davis to send him over the top rope and to the floor. Mark follows him out, landing some knee strikes to the chest as the fight heads toward the stage. Ospreay blocks a powerbomb attempt, leading to a big senton off the stage sending Davis to the floor as we go to break.

-AD BREAK (ON HBO MAX)-

Back from break, Davis regains control in the corner with a neckbreaker before Ospreay fights out of a piledriver attempt, sending his old friend to the corner. He takes Davis down hard for a nearfall, before Davis blocks a Hidden Blade to prop Will up on the ropes. He drops Ospreay to the mat for a two of his own, and hoists Opsreay up…but Ospreay is back on his feet and lands a thrust kick. Davis hits the ropes, but runs into a Spanish Fly that gets Ospreay a near two count before Davis kicks out!

Both men are up and trading offense, until Mark counters an Oscutter into a back body driver not once but twice. Will tries to escape to the ropes but is brought back in with another suplex by Davis, who follows up with an enziguri. He hits the ropes…and runs into a Hidden Blade! Cover by Ospreay…but only gets a two! Davis blocks another Hidden Blade for a clothesline, and lands a nasty looking piledriver for the cover…only for Ospreay to get his boot on the bottom rope to break the pin.

Callis is beside himself as he argues with the ref about this. Ospreay tries to get back up, but Davis catches him with a piledriver onto the apron. Ref holds back Davis after Ospreay drops to the floor, and a medic is called to check in on Ospreay as the ref instructs Davis to get back in the ring.

Ospreay keeps telling Doc Sampson to let him get up, crawling to the ring apron as Davis is getting more and more upset. Ref talks to Sampson who gives him the word that Ospreay cannot continue…and the ref calls for the bell! We get the official word via Justin Roberts that our winner here is Mark Davis.

Winner via ref stoppage: Mark Davis

Davis is a bit of a sore winner here as he grabs Ospreay from the apron, looking to break him with another piledriver…until Marina Shafir, Jon Moxley, and the rest of the Death Riders come out to talk him down sort of. They mostly just stare him down as Callis tells Davis to get out of the ring, and Davis obliges. He regroups with Callis on the ramp as the Death Riders pull Ospreay out of the ring, holding him up as they take him through the crowd and away from ringside as we left to simply go to commercial.

-Commercial Break-

Backstage, Alex Windsor (unaware of whatever just happened to her husband Ospreay) addresses dealing with the Triangle of Madness, with CMLL champion Persephone offering to help the cause. I think. Audio was a little off with the crowd almost more audible than the promo, before we head back to ringside.

Samoa Joe heads to the ring as we see Cody Chhun already there to get this match underway.

Samoa Joe vs. Cody Chhun

Joe immediately goes to work on Cody, sending him to the corner for a muscle buster…but Cody goes after his eye to fight back. He goes for a cross body on Joe…who says absolutely not as he walks away. He sends Chhun back to the corner, connecting with a Muscle Buster for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Samoa Joe

Joe celebrates briefly before heading back up the ramp, joining HOOK who is giving a round of applause for his return. With that we cut to a video package highlighting Darby Allin ahead of our main event for the AEW World Championship.

-Commercial Break-

Backstage, we find out who Jericho has recruited to team with him against The Demand…with the Hurt Syndicate stepping out of his locker room! MVP says with them, it’s never personal…it’s just business.

We head back to ringside for the arrival of Darby Allin as our new AEW World Champion makes his way out to a big pop from the crowd. He enters the ring, soaking in the adulation of the crowd before talking about Portland being where his first match took place. He admits that this could all come to an end as quickly as Tommaso comes out later tonight, before talking about the people he’s made proud before this fifteen minute ride could end.

He is interrupted by MJF, who tells Darby he doesn’t deserve s–t. He demands Allin give him back “his” title right now, but it’s denied. He demands a rematch right now, and Darby denies that as well before saying he’s not facing MJF until he can put something on the line…because unlike MJF, everyone else in the back deserves a shot at the title. Darby will put his body on the line every week, and it starts with Tommaso Ciampa!

Ciampa makes his entrance, only to be confronted by MJF on the ramp. He breaks the tension with a kiss on the cheek before heading to the ring, and we get introductions for both men before this main event gets underway!

AEW World Championship Match: Darby Allin defends against Tommaso Ciampa

The two go at it right from the start, trading offense from the corner before Darby looks for an early Coffin Drop. Ciampa rolls out of the ring, but is caught with a Coffin Drop to the floor by the champion instead! Tommaso manages to get back into the ring, but Darby fends off an attack on the apron before the challenger sends him crashing into the announce table and into the barricade before we go to an ad break.

-AD BREAK (ON HBO MAX)-

Ciampa still in control as we come back, and he stomps at Darby under the apron before catapulting him into the undercarriage. He sends the champ back into barricade, but Darby dodges a running boot before climbing up top. He steps onto the ring post itself before leaping for an elbow to send the challenger through the timekeeper table!

Darby makes it back to the ring as the ref begins the count. Ciampa is slowly moving toward the ring, but the champ (uh) doesn’t let up as he leaps out for a dive sending him back down. The fight makes its way back to the ring as Ciampa manages to cut off Darby coming back in. He sends the champ to the corner, who uses the turnbuckle to drive Tommaso into the canvas. Ciampa rolls out of range from a Coffin Drop, and cuts him off on the opposite corner as well. He lays into Darby with a set of chops before putting him onto his shoulders…sending Darby to the floor below with a Psycho Driller!

Ref is shouting to find out what Ciampa’s problem as, and both men are struggling to get up as we go to ad break.

-AD BREAK (ON HBO MAX)-

Both men have made it back into the ring now, trading shots until Ciampa sends Darby to the corner for some more chops. Darby dodges a running kick but is launched into the corner…only to stop himself short, dropping onto the challenger with a double foot stomp to the chest for a nearfall. They go back at it with strikes, and Darby hits the ropes for speed only to be sent flying to the canvas before Ciampa lands a running knee.

Darby manages to fight back, hitting the ropes again as he nails the challenger with a Code Red for a close two count. Darby goes up top for a Coffin Drop…but lands in a rear naked choke by Ciampa! Darby readjusts and gets a cover for two. He charges at Ciampa, who sends him into the exposed turnbuckle before landing a running knee…but this is only good for a two! He picks up the champ and lands Project Ciampa, followed by another running knee…but the champ will not give up, as he kicks out just in the nick of time!

Ciampa looks to mock Darby as he goes for a Scorpion Deathlock, only to be booted in the face before Allin turns it into a Scorpion Deathlock of his own! Ciampa is struggling as he crawls toward the ropes…but Darby pulls him back to the middle of the ring! The challenger is finding it harder and harder to get to the ropes as Darby wrenches back, eventually getting back to his feet to cinch the hold in deep…and Ciampa taps out!

Winner via submission and still AEW World Champion: Darby Allin

Neither man is moving at first as Darby’s music hits, and the champ is presented with his title while still laying on the mat. He finally makes it back to his knees as he grabs the title, and Ciampa is also on his knees as they extend a show of sportsmanship with a handshake. Ciampa puts the title on the champ’s shoulder before rolling out of the ring, allowing the champ to take his moment as he leaves the ring.

Out comes Brody King with a microphone, who reiterates that he is proud of the new champ and all he’s done. He’s talked to Tony Khan, and with Darby’s permission it’ll be the two of them for the World Title next week. Darby nods to accept, as King raises his hand before leaving the ring. The ref raises Darby’s arm once more as Dynamite comes to a close.
