According to a report on Sunday from Bryan Alvarez at F4WOnline, there are people within the NXT brand questioning what the the purpose of the WWE’s Legends and Future Greats (LFG) program, if they are just going to cut one of the show’s winners.
Olympic Gold Medalist Tyra Mae Steele (real name Tamyra Mensah-Stock), who came out on top in the women’s division of LFG, was part of the 23 releases by WWE last Friday.
“A lot of people in NXT questioning what the point of LFG is if they’re just going to cut the winner”, Alvarez wrote on social media.
Steele was wrestling on episodes of EVOLVE prior to being let go by WWE. She challenged Kendal Grey for the EVOLVE Women’s Championship in a match that was taped on February 20, that aired March 11 on Tubi.
Steele’s final match was a gauntlet held for an EVOLVE Women’s Title opportunity, as part of the tapings on March 20 at the Performance Center in Orlando.

WWE LFG is in its third season, airing Sunday nights at 10:00 pm ET/PT on A&E. It features Booker T, Bubba Ray Dudley, Kevin Owens and Natalya, who work with the next generation of talent, as they compete in front of fans at the Performance for a chance at a top spot in NXT, then potentially the main roster.
