Coming out of Monday’s WWE Raw, three matches have been made official for Backlash on Saturday, May 9.
Monday’s show saw Seth Rollins open the show, which led to an eventual challenge by Rollins to Bron Breakker for a match at Backlash. The match was later made official.
During the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship Match against Becky Lynch on Monday’s Raw, IYO SKY was attacked by Asuka, allowing Lynch to retain the title. It was then announced soon after that it will be SKY vs. Asuka for Backlash.
Roman Reigns will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Fatu at Backlash.
After Reigns and Fatu exchanged words, Fatu attacked Reigns, choking him out. Following recovering in the ring, Reigns told Fatu that if he wants him at Backlash, he will get him at Backlash.
WWE Backlash will take place from the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida. The event will air live on ESPN Unlimited in the United States and Netflix for international fans. WWE Backlash will have a special start-time of 6:00pm ET/3:00 pm PT.
AEW is airing a live one-hour episode of Collision on May 9 on TBS and HBO Max, billed as Fairway to Hell, beginning at 8:00 pm ET. The show will take place from the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, just a few hours down the road from Tampa.
