WCW Nitro kicks off with the legendary Nitro video.
Live in the arena, we cut to the announce team. We see a clip of Lex Luger waiting from the night before in the parking lot to make sure that he does not miss his World title match.
Steiner Brothers vs. Public Enemy
The bell rings and we are under way. Scott and Rocco Rock start the match. Rocco Rock to the ropes but Scott with a gorilla press and in comes Grunge, Scott throws Rocco Rock onto Grunge. Rick gets in the ring and he double clotheslines Public Enemy. They roll to the outside of the ring. Rick and Grunge are tagged in. Grunge with right hands. He throws Rick to the ropes but Rick with a power slam followed by an elbow drop. He goes for the cover but Rocco Rock breaks it up. Scott is tagged in and he belly to back suplexes Grunge. He goes for the cover but Rocco Rock breaks it up. Public Enemy to the outside and the Steiner Brothers to the outside. Grunge throws Rick back into the ring. Rocco Rock goes for a right hand onto Rick but Rick ducks and Rocco Rock accidentally hits Grunge. Rocco Rock with a right hand onto Rick followed by a knee to the face. Rocco Rock with a power slam. He climbs the top rope but Rick gets up and runs the ropes, tripping Rocco Rock up. Rick with a suplex. Scott is tagged in. He throws Rocco Rock to the ropes and Scott with a tilt-a-whirl slam. Scott places Rocco Rock on the top rope but Grunge gets in the ring. He lifts Scott up and Rocco Rock with a clothesline. Grunge is tagged in and he body slams Scott. Grunge with an elbow drop. Rocco Rock is tagged in. Rocco Rock climbs the top rope, jumps over Grunge and splashes Scott. He goes for the cover but Scott kicks out. Grunge is tagged in and they double team Scott. Rocco Rock is tagged in. He climbs the top rope and goes for a senton but Scott moves out of the way. Rick is tagged in and he clotheslines Rocco Rock and Grunge. Grunge to the outside and Rick throws Rocco Rock to the outside. Grunge throws Scott into the barricade and they double team Rick. Rocco Rock gets in the ring and he jumps over the top rope but Rick moves out of the way and he lands onto Grunge. Rocco Rock is thrown into the ring and Scott with a Frankensteiner. He goes for the cover and gets the pin.
Winners: Steiner Brothers
Roy’s thoughts: Always a fun match between these two teams. The Steiner Brothers were just a lot of fun to watch and Public Enemy brought something different, they were underrated.

Squire David Taylor with Jeeves vs. Chris Benoit
The bell rings and we are under way. Taylor throws Benoit to the ropes but Benoit with a chop. Benoit with right hands. Benoit drops Taylor and slingshots him into the top turnbuckle. Benoit with a chop to the chest. Benoit runs towards Taylor but Taylor moves out of the way. Taylor with an uppercut and Benoit rolls to the outside of the ring. Taylor with a double axe off onto Benoit. Taylor and Benoit get back into the ring. Taylor with an electric chair. Taylor with a fall away slam. He goes for the cover but Benoit kicks out.
Eric Bischoff mentions that Randy Savage is in the arena and Steve McMichael says he wants to go talk to him. McMichael gets up and leaves.
Back in the ring, Taylor goes for a cross body off the second rope but Benoit moves out of the way. Benoit with a dragon suplex cover and he gets the pin.
Winner: Chris Benoit
Roy’s thoughts: I didn’t really enjoy this match and it did not look like the fans did too.
-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Gene Okerlund is outside of the arena with Randy Savage and security guards. Out comes McMichael. He tells Savage if anyone can sympathize with Savage, it’s him. He tells Flair he made a mistake when he messed with his family, he made it personal. He says he has a plan and McMichael gets in the arena. Okerlund tells Savage he is not allowed in the arena. Savage says he hasn’t seen crazy, he hasn’t seen nothing. He says he will take WCW and turn it upside down. Savage says he doesn’t care about the money, he tells Okerlund that Okerlund does not know where Savage has been.
Savage says he does not mind dragging his dead beat partner Flair to the ring for the Lethal Lottery at Slamboree. He says a psychiatrist said he is an OCD, one cool dude.
Roy’s thoughts: Another good showing of Savage becoming a loose cannon.

V.K. Wallstreet vs. Ric Flair with Miss Elizabeth and Woman
The bell rings and we are under way. Wallstreet with a head lock take down. FLair gets to his feet and throws Wallstreet to the ropes. Wallstreet with a shoulder tackle. Wallstreet with a side head lock but Flair gets him in the corner. Flair with a chop to the chest. Wallstreet throws Flair in the corner and hits him with right hands. Wallstreet with a hip toss. He throws Flair to the ropes and Wallstreet with a back body drop. Flair rolls to the outside of the ring.
-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Wallstreet throws Flair into the turnbuckle but Flair rolls over the top and to the outside of the ring. Wallstreet to the outside and he hits Flair with right hands. Wallstreet grabs Flair but Flair with a right hand. Flair throws Wallstreet into the ring. Flair climbs the top rope but Wallstreet gorilla press slams him down. He throws Flair to the ropes and Wallstreet with a back body drop. Wallstreet with a Samoan drop. He goes for the cover but Flair gets his foot on the bottom rope. Wallstreet runs towards Flair but Flair moves out of the way and Wallstreet falls to the outside of the ring. Wallstreet gets on the ring apron. Flair goes for a hip toss but Wallstreet with a back cover. Flair kicks out. Flair gets back up and Wallstreet clotheslines him to the outside of the ring. Wallstreet to the outside. He goes for a running knee on Flair but Flair moves out of the way and Wallstreet hits the ring post. Flair throws Wallstreet back into the ring. Flair slams Wallstreet’s leg into the ring post. Flair gets back into the ring. Flair with the Figure Four Leg Lock. Woman grabs Flair and pulls him for leverage. Wallstreet taps out.
Winner: Ric Flair
Out comes Gene Okerlund. Flair tells him that he heard Savage say that he would drag a dead man to the ring. Flair kisses Miss Elizabeth’s arm. He asks if the Nature Boy looks dead to him. He says at Slamboree he will wear a new tuxedo, the girls will be dressed to kill and they will knock WCW on its ass. Okerlund mentions Debra McMichael. Flair says while McMichael rolls in the dirt, he stayed up all night, he threw touch down pass after touch down pass. He tells Steve McMichael to look at his wide receivers, Miss Elizabeth and Woman.
Roy’s thoughts: This was actually pretty good. The match was solid and Flair’s promo was pure gold.

WCW World Heavyweight Championship match – The Giant (c) with Jimmy Hart vs. Lex Luger
The bell rings and we are under way. Luger goes for a shoulder tackle but The Giant stays on his feet. Luger goes for another shoulder tackle but The Giant with a clothesline. He throws Luger to the ropes but Luger with a kick. Luger goes for a body slam but The Giant with a right hand and Luger falls to the outside of the ring. Luger gets up and gets on the ring apron. The Giant goes for a suplex but Luger lands on his feet. Luger with a clothesline but The Giant on his feet. Luger climbs the second rope and goes for a double axe handle but The Giant catches him. The Giant slams Luger into the turnbuckle. The Giant throws Luger to the ropes, The Giant goes for a clothesline, Luger ducks and hits The Giant with a clothesline. He grabs The Giant but The Giant throws him to the outside of the ring. The Giant lifts Luger up and throws him into the ring. The Giant gets on the ring apron but Luger with a spear. Luger with right hands. Luger with a clothesline and The Giant falls to the outside of the ring. The Giant gets on his feet and drags Luger to the outside of the ring.
We see Ric Flair, Miss Elizabeth and Woman having drinks and food at a table at ring side. The Giant removes everything off the table and he Chokeslams Luger through the table on the outside of the ring.
The referee calls for the bell.
Winner: By disqualification, Lex Luger
Jimmy Hart jumps onto The Giant’s back but The Giant pushes him down. Sting jumps the barricade and The Giant leaves to the back.
We cut to the announce team. McMichael says devastation. Heenan asks when was the last time you saw someone like Lex Luger being Chokeslammed through a table. Bischoff says if Sting needed motivation for Slamboree, he got it and Nitro goes off the air.
Roy’s thoughts: I really enjoyed the ending to the match. It makes Luger look good because a chokeslam through a table is a dangerous spot and should be a disqualification. Sting coming out at the end continues to show that Sting is the good guy in this team.
A fun Nitro with a great tag team match, a fun match involving Ric Flair and another World Heavyweight title match.
