According new report on Saturday from False Finish reports that in an update on CM Punk’s absence from WWE programming, noted by Fightful Select, is due to a “schedule change. It was also added that per sources, Punk is currently waiting on creative to return him back to television. Furthermore, False Finish indicated that creative plans shifted when the decision was made to move Gunther to SmackDown and Jacob Fatu over to Raw.
“As @FightfulSelect has mentioned, CM Punk being absent from TV is due to a “schedule change”. Sources tell False Finish that CM Punk is currently awaiting creative to return to WWE TV. Punk’s schedule and creative were shifted after WWE made the decision to move Gunther to SmackDown along with bringing Jacob Fatu to RAW to feud with Roman Reigns.”
Punk’s last appearance on WWE programming was during the April 20 episode of Raw after WrestleMania 42 Night Two, when he had a face-off with Cody Rhodes, saying he wanted a shot at the Undisputed Championship. Punk lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 42 Night Two.
