AEW Dynamite Results for April 14, 2021

Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, and Excalibur were the broadcast team for tonight’s event.

It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means!

Highlights of the shocking conclusion to last week’s main event aired, when The Young Bucks betrayed Jon Moxley.

Matt Jackson said they did it because they chose “friendship.”

Matt Jackson said, “Jon Moxley, thank you for pushing us over the edge. We’re no longer just a club of friends throwing up a hand gesture. We’re a family that loves and hugs. And Don Callis? When someone is right about something, they’re right. He said that we’ve changed. I’m no longer content, Nick. I think it’s time we brought back those old Young Bucks. Better yet, I think it’s time we showed the world a newer, better version of ourselves.”

Earlier in the day, “Iron” Mike Tyson attempted to film an introduction for DYNAMITE to say how excited he was to be the special ringside enforcer tonight, but he was interrupted by MJF!

“Brother, I’m not asking you to cheat tonight, I’m just asking you to be on the right side of history. The last thing I want is for you to look back on tonight and have any regrets,” said MJF, who then proceeded to insult Tyson’s face tattoo. MJF then tried to bribe “Iron” Mike with a blank check. Tyson grabbed the blank check and tore it to pieces. MJF walked away in disgust.

Tonight’s opener: the AEW World Tag Team Championship Match!

AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks—Matt & Nick Jackson (with Impact’s Don Callis!) vs. Death Triangle’s PAC & Rey Fenix!

Callis joined the broadcast team for this match.

The fans chanted “You sold out!” at the Bucks.

PAC and Matt Jackson started the match for their respective teams.

“We can certainly see a change in personality, along with new attire for the Bucks,” said Jim Ross.

“If you went into a lab to design a tag team to defeat The Young Bucks, it would be PAC and Rey Fenix, two-thirds of Death Triangle,” noted Excalibur.

Matt and PAC engaged in a beautiful chain wrestling sequence, with both wrestlers countering one another move for move until they finally got into one another’s faces, with Matt waving cockily at PAC.

“This is a great new attitude on behalf of the Jacksons,” said Don Callis.

Matt tagged out to his brother Nick. Rey Fenix tagged in and he challenged Nick.

“Man, who is greater than Rey Fenix?” asked J.R.

Rey Fenix thought he had Nick Jackson outsmarted after some counter holds until Nick Jackson hit him with a dirty clothesline.

“Back to basics, that’s some of the things we’ve been talking about,” said Don Callis about The Young Bucks.

Jurassic Express, SCU, Butcher and Blade, and Best Friends were shown in the crowd observing the match.

The Bucks tried to double-team Rey Fenix but Death Triangle countered! PAC flipped to the outside onto the Bucks and then Rey Fenix built up a head of steam and launched himself like a missile onto Nick Jackson with a tope suicida! Rey Fenix and Nick Jackson tagged in and Nick was sent flying after a springboard clothesline from Rey Fenix! The Bucks had their hands full with Rey Fenix, who hit Matt with thrust kicks and then took Nick down off the top rope! Rey Fenix followed up with a double cutter on The Young Bucks! Nick used a low blow on PAC, but Rey Fenix was close enough to tag his Death Triangle partner. Rey Fenix jumped off the top rope and landed squarely into a superkick by Nick Jackson! And then Nick Jackson ripped off Rey Fenix’s mask! Rey Fenix used his hands to conceal his identity, rendering him defenseless against the stereo superkicks from the Bucks! Nick Jackson grabbed the pinfall on Rey Fenix!

“Despicable! Matt and Nick Jackson, you can go straight to hell!” said Excalibur.

#1 ranked “Hangman” Adam Page was with the Dark Order backstage. Alex Marvez asked Page about Kenny Omega and his rekindled friendship with The Young Bucks.
