AEW announces opening match on Wednesday’s Dynamite will be commercial-free

AEW Dynamite opening match

All Elite Wrestling announced the first match for AEW Dynamite this Wednesday, which runs head-to-head with WWE NXT.

Kicking off AEW Dynamite on December 18 is Kenny Omega and Hangman Page taking on The Lucha Brothers. AEW also announced that this match will air commercial-free, something all their opening matches have been.

Also scheduled for Wednesday’s show are the following matches:

— AEW World Champion Chris Jericho vs. Jungle Boy in a non-title match with a 10-minute time limit
— SCU (Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) for the AEW World Tag Team Championships
— Dr. Britt Baker vs. Kris Statlander in a #1 Contender’s match for Riho’s AEW Women’s World Championship
— Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin vs. The Butcher and The Blade
— Awesome Kong will have a match against an unnamed opponent

This announcement comes after WWE announced NXT’s opening match will be Adam Cole defending the NXT Championship against Finn Balor. That match will also be commercial-free.

Wrestleview will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT, the final episodes of both for 2019 as Christmas falls on a Wednesday, starting at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 Central.
