AEW start up cost and more revealed in recent article

In a Forbes article published by Hank Tucker on Tuesday some financial details were revealed about All Elite Wrestling, including the cost to get the company started.

Below are some excerpts from the article.

– The largest share of revenue for AEW is their WarnerMedia deal, which is $175 million over four years that goes through 2023.

– Billionaire Shahid Khan (Tony Khan’s father), who is the Owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars invested nearly $100 million to start up AEW.

– Shahid didn’t think that starting AEW was a good idea, but then told his son, ‘Look, when I’m dead and gone, I’m going to be leaving you and your sister a lot of money. Why don’t you blow some of that while I’m alive?’”

Also in the article Tony Khan commented on the closure of WCW in 2001: “I’m glad that WCW failed because it created a vacancy for us to come in and succeed…but it made it a fairly bleak period for the wrestling business.”
