AEW announced earlier today on Twitter (see below) the official signing of Thunder Rosa.
Rosa debuted on AEW Dynamite debut back on the September 2, 2020 episode, while still she still NWA World Women’s Champion. Rosa continued to make appearances both the NWA and AEW.
Rosa first signed with the NWA in October 2019. She became the first-ever Mexican born wrestler to win the NWA Women’s Title, when she beat Allysin Kay at the Hard Times PPV in 2020. She lost the title to Serena Deeb on the October 27, 2020 UWN/NWA Primetime Live event. She had held the NWA Women’s World Title for 277 days.
According to Fightful Select, AEW CEO and President Tony Khan bought out Rosa’s NWA contract. It was also said that Rosa requested her NWA release back in 2020, but it was rejected at the time.
