Report: Jake Atlas not expected back in AEW

As first reported by Fightful, and then confirmed by F4WOnline, Jake Atlas is not expected back in AEW.

Fightful confirmed that Atlas’ contract status with AEW, as per multiple sources was a pay per-appearance deal which was paused during his recovery from the surgery he had this past February to repair a torn ACL, which he suffered during his second match in AEW, which was against Adam Cole at a Rampage television taping back on January 7.

This past January, AEW announced him as AllElite, which would usually means that talent has signed a full-time contract with the company.

Atlas (Kenny Marquez) was arrested on back May 23 on domestic violence charges after he attacked his boyfriend in an incident that started at a bar in Orlando, Florida, bar and then carried over to a friend’s house. Atlas was released by police later that day. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Orange County court on Tuesday, June 28.

Atlas began his professional wrestling career when he signed with WWE in 2019. He then began appearing on NXT in early 2020, and was released in August 2021 as part of WWE’s budget cuts. In September 201, during an interview with Denise Salcedo, he said he was stepping away from professional wrestling and went into detail about his experience in NXT and his mental health, noting that it was the worst it had ever been those past two years.

As of this writing, neither AEW, nor Atlas have commented publicly about the arrest.
