Update on Santana’s injury status from AEW’s Blood and Guts

According to a new report from Fightful Select, AEW star Santana has injured his ACL and the ligament in the center of his knee that prevents the shin bone from rubbing against the thigh bone. Fightful Select also indicated that Santana directly told several people about his injury, and also went to an event in Puerto Rico this weekend to relinquish the title held he held a local promotion. while supporting himself with crutches. In addition, Fightful Select also added that sources close to the situation believe Santana will be out for 8 to 12 months.

The report further notes that Santana’s tag team partner, Ortiz, is going to be still used on weekly AEW programming. Santana and Ortiz are said to currently not be on good terms at the moment.

Santana’s injury occurred during the Blood & Guts Match back on June 29, when he went for a Uranage Slam. He appeared to have tweaked his knee and then was immediately removed from the match and did not return. Chris Jericho, during an appearance on the True Geordie Podcast, said that Santana messed up his knee from “doing a simple Rock Bottom.”
