During the events of this past May’s AEW Double or Nothing PPV meet-and-greet weekend, MJF said the company did a hotel room wellness check when no one from the company was not get a hold of him, after he no-showed the fan fest.
MJF appeared on the Sam Roberts podcast. MJF said AEW lost $10,000 on that Saturday when he missed the meet-and-greet.
While the full details of what actually happened that weekend are still unclear, especially if MJF really had a plane ticket to leave town already purchased. MJF did end up showing up at the Double or Nothing PPV, losing to Wardlow in the opening match.
He then appeared at the June 1 episode of Dynamite and cut a profanity filled promo on the company and Tony Khan before being gone for three months. He returned at the All Out PPV this past September and won the Casino ladder match with help from Stokley Hathaway and and the stable he was building. MJF won with out competing in the match.
MJF said everything that happened was a shoot, which is at about the 37 minute mark of the interview.
Several sources have stated the situation between MFJ and AEW was not a work.
