Nigel McGuinness files to trademark ring name

As reported by Fightful, Nigel McGuinness has filed to trademark his in-ring name of over two decades for entertainment services.

Listed as part of the trademark description are entertainment services in terms of “wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer” as well as personal and televised appearances, providing wrestling news and information, and providing online interviews.

McGuinness (real name Steven Haworth) began his career in 1999, after training in Ohio under Les Thatcher at Heartland Wrestling Association. He is most notable for his run in Ring of Honor from 2003 to 2009, particularly his reign as ROH World and Pure Champion, and his later runs in TNA (as Desmond Wolfe) and non-wrestling roles in ROH and WWE.

It was announced on April 5, 2023 that McGuinness signed a contract with All Elite Wrestling, around the same time he returned to ROH in a commentary role.
