Backstage AEW news on The Acclaimed segment that aired on Rampage

This past Friday’s AEW Rampage featured a segment with The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster), Billy Gunn, QT Marshall and members of the QTV crew. There was a point in the segment when Harley Cameron tried suggesting that Bowens was interested in her. This is when, during the segment Bowens told Cameron he is gay.

Bowens is open in real-life about being gay. However, this is the first time it was done in an angle on AEW television. The segment, since going viral on social media, has garnered over 5 million views just on Twitter.

According to a report from Fightful Select, the segment was largely put together by QT Marshall and Billy Gunn. It was also said that Marshall had a conversation with Bowens about it to ensure he was comfortable with doing the angle on national television. It was further noted that Bowens was all for proclaiming it.

Fightful Select concluded by noting that the segment was originally scheduled to air on AEW Dynamite, but it was moved to Rampage so it could have more television time. The segment ended with former WWE Superstar John Morrison making his official return to the company as Johnny TV, attacking The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn.
