Tony Khan addresses NJPW speculation, whether PPVs are going monthly

During a media call to promote the AEW WrestleDream event, Tony Khan addressed a number of topics including speculation on buying NJPW and whether PPVs would be going monthly in the near future.

When asked about the former, Khan stated his suprise at the speculation picking up, noting the partnership AEW has with New Japan at the moment including the Forbidden Door events and talent on both sides being a part of each other’s programming and events.

“There are people in AEW who have helped develop New Japan and people from New Japan who have helped develop AEW or Ring of Honor. I want to continue that partnership for a very long and right now we have something very good going. I’m a little surprised by the speculation, I don’t know where it came from.”

Khan would also address the rising number of PPV events, particularly with this Sunday’s WrestleDream being added to the annual slate, by stating that these additional shows proves there is room to add to the schedule but not that PPVs can be expected to go monthly at this time.

The AEW President also stated he was open to a streaming platform, but such plans are currently outside the scope of their current media rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery.
