Bryan Danielson confirms being on AEW disciplinary committee: ‘What happened has happened’

Speaking as a guest on the Maggie & Perloff show on CBS Sports Radio, Bryan Danielson was asked about a recent report stating he was part of the disciplinary committee in AEW that came to a decision on CM Punk’s termination.

While the American Dragon did not go into great detail about what it entailed, he did confirm he was on the committee:

“I mean, I’m a part of the disciplinary committee and clearly, what happened has happened, you know what I mean? I’m somebody who…I like CM Punk, I thought he brought a lot to AEW while he was here, but…there’s not a lot I can say about it, or that I want to say about it.”

Danielson went on to state there were more than three people involved in the decision, but “most of them were all lawyers,” and that he was not “bossing people around” during that process.

When asked if being a part of the committee was difficult given his friendship with Punk, Danielson responded:

“Absolutely…I have a lot of empathy. I’m grateful for the time he was able to spend in AEW, and he did a great job for us. So, I wish him the best of luck in his future, and I hope his run [in WWE] goes well.”

Punk made his return to WWE at Survivor Series 2023, less than two months after being terminated with cause from AEW following a backstage incident at All In.
