AEW ‘Bonus Matches’ and notes from Wednesday’s Dynamite and Rampage taping

AEW held what were announced as bonus matches on Wednesday night before Dynamite went live on the air from the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, OK. In addition, AEW also held the standard dark matches as well.

Before Dynamite went live on the air the following matches took place:

-Nyla Rose defeated Alejandra Lion

-Zak Knight (Saraya’s brother) defeated Peter Avalon.  This was Knight’s AEW debut.

After the Rampage taping, the following matches, which were announced as “bonus matches” by ring announcer Justin Roberts took place.

-Hikaru Shida defeated Emi Sakura in a back and forth match.  They fought up the aisle to the stage at one point.

-The Dark Order insulted Oklahoma.  This then led to Jake Hager, Matt Menard and Angelo Parker coming out to challenge the Dark Order for a six man tag team match. Hager made Alex Reynolds tap out to an ankle-lock.

NOTES:

-The live crowd was super hot with lots of “AEW” chants This seemed to be way more than usual of late.

-There was a very warm welcome for Jim Ross

-There was someone with a SPOILER: MOXLEY WILL BLEED sign in the first row. Moxley did not bleed during his match.

-Tony Khan came out several times to rile up the crowd.  He praised and thanked the ring crew during the change from Dynamite to Rampage.

-Justin Roberts did a great job playing to the crowd before the show and during commercial breaks.  This was a very different feel from a WWE show.

-The crowd started to disperse after Rampage was taped, but overall a very fun show live
