Backstage update on MJF and when he could return to AEW TV

Fightful Select has provided a backstage update on former AEW World Champion MJF.

According to Fightful Select, MJF will be returning soon. Discussions have begun between AEW and MJF regarding a return to AEW TV. There also has been talk on how the company will present MJF with his look, changes with his presentation and other details on how he AEW plans to have him return.

Fightful Select notes that one source says that MJF’s return to AEW could come sooner than later, with most in the company expecting to see him back by the Forbidden Door III PPV on June 30 his hometown of Long Island, New York – if not sooner.

MJF was last seen on AEW television back on December 30, 2023 when he dropped the World Championship to Samoa Joe at the Worlds End pay-per-view. MJF held the title longer than anyone in the company, at 406 days.

Leading up to the title loss at Worlds End, MJF had been working through a number of injuries that included his shoulder and hips.

Fightful Select concluded by noting that MJF remains under contract a long-term deal with AEW, as he quietly signed a contract extension. It has been previously reported MJF’s deal was set to expire on December 31, 2023. MJF is He is currently among one of the highest paid talent in AEW under his new contract.
