MJF is the new CMLL Light Heavyweight Champion.
The former AEW World Champion defeated Averno on August 1 episode of CMLL Viernes Espectacular, which took place at Arena Mexico, in Mexico City.
Per F4WOnline, the win came after MJF worked on Averno’s knee. However, as Averno got out of a half Boston crab, MJF was able to distract the referee and low-blow Averno. MJF then applied the half Boston crab back, with Averno submitting, thus ending 491 day run as champion.
It was also said that post-match, Zandokan Jr. came to the ring and confronted MJF, who wil challenge MJF for the championship on August 15.
