Eddie Kingston says he’s likely to miss AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door again

During his appearance on the most recent Cezar Bononi podcast, AEW star Eddie Kingston said he is likely to miss the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door PPV for the second straight year.

Kingston has been out of in-ring action since the May 11, 2024 NJPW Resurgence PPV, where he broke his tibia, tore is ACL, and tore his meniscus. The injury occurred after he took a suplex, with his leg hitting the guardrail.

The 43-year old inaugural Continental Champion has been undergoing physical therapy. It was initially believed that Kingston would return to in-ring action around June 2025.

“I am disappointed that it looks like, I’m just saying it now, it looks like I’m not going to be able to do Forbidden Door again. My thing is, everybody else has their favorites, and my favorite was always Forbidden Door. It’s s— I like to do. That’s the s— I like. For me, Forbidden Door will always be the big one…missing it, as of right now, missing it two years in a row sucks. Hopefully, this comes out and I’m wrong and I’m actually at Forbidden Door to fight somebody.”

AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door takes place on Sunday, August 24 live on pay-per-view from the O2 Arena in London, England.
