Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland posting to his Instagram Stories that he has undergone successful surgery to repair a torn meniscus. He had been dealing with the injury since 2019.
Strickland was unsuccessful in capturing the AEW Unified Championship from Kazuchika Okada at this past Sunday’s Forbidden Door PPV. After the match, AEW did an angle with Okada logging Swerve’s knee between the ring post and the steel steps and then hitting the steps repeatedly with a steel chair.
Prince Nana would rush to the ring with a metal pipe, but was taken out by the returning Wardlow, who revealed himself to be aligned with Don Callis.
At the time of this writing, there is no word on how long Strickland will be out of action.
