ECW legend to be inducted into 2300 Arena Hall of Fame

AEW has released footage from Wednesday’s surprise reveal to Taz, that he will be inducted into the 2300 Arena Hall of Fame this Saturday at Collision.

ECW legend and AEW broadcaster Taz is set to be inducted into the 2300 Arena Hall of Fame during this Saturday’s Collision.

At the time of this writing, AEW has not confirmed if it will actually air or be an non-televised induction.

Per a report from PWInsider, the induction announcement made off-air at Wednesday’s Dynamite at 2300 Arena in Philadelphia was a surprise for Taz AEW officials arranged.

The majority of the AEW roster came out wearing the old Team Taz Dojo shirts as Kiss’ “War Machine” song played.  Taz’s wife and his son Hook then came out.  The fans then did a big “Thank you Taz” chant.

AEW President Tony Khan came out and said he could not think of a better way to end their first night at 2300 Arena than to pay homage to the “greatest legend in the history of this building”  Khan then said the last time he was at this venue, he was 13-years old wearing a Taz shirt.  Khan then added that Taz was a hero to him and millions around the world.  

When Taz spoke, he said it was nice of his wife and son to kayfabe him, as he got worked. He then joked that it was not the first time he had been worked at 2300 Arena. He thanked AEW and the fans and then said AEW has an extreme type of fighting spirit like they did in the 1990s, except there is a lot more money and a much bigger roster. Taz then said that he talks for a living, but is speechless.  Taz continued by saying he did not expect this and told the fans that he loves them, was blessed to have great memories in 2300 Arena, blessed to have the family he has. Taz put over the AEW roster, saying they work hard every time and that AEW is going to kick a– during their residency at the venue.

Taz joins Terry Funk, Sabu, The Public Enemy, Tod Gordon, The Sandman, Shane Douglas, The Pitbulls, Chris Candido, Eddie Gilbert, Tommy Dreamer, The Blue Meanie, Jerry Lynn, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, 2 Cold Scorpio, Rob Van Dam, The Dudley Boyz, Road Warrior Hawk and ECW Producer Charlie Bruzesse, and the fans, who all have been inducted into the 2300 Arena Hall of Fame.
