Report on the reason for Billy Gunn’s absence from AEW television

A new report from WrestlePurist notes Billy Gunn’s absence from AEW television is due to him not being booked by creative.

“After Billy Gunn recently mentioned on ‘Fuel & Flex’ that he has stress fractures in his back, his team reached out to clarify that it’s a “very old injury”, and the reason he’s absent from TV is due to not being booked by AEW creative: “Billy is fine, this is a very old injury that he has dealt with for years. It does not interfere with wrestling or training. It just gets sore if he trains too heavy or hard.”

WrestlePurists notes in an X post, Gunn’s team reached out to clarify the stress fractures is a “very old injury”, adding that his absence is due to not being booked by AEW creative and that he is fine and this is a very old injury he (Gunn), has been dealing with for years. They also attached is a video showing that is okay, further noting because of the internet, their phones have been blowing up asking if his back is hurt.

Gunn mentioning that he has stress fractures, led some to believe this was the reason for his absence from AEW television. AEW has instead been using backstage agent Jerry Lynn as the veteran talent who has been making attempts to get Max Caster and Anthony Bowens to be friends again and reunite as The Acclaimed.
