According to a new report from Fightful Select, former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland is now set to return ‘next month’, should there be no any setbacks. This past August, he underwent surgery for a torn meniscus.
Fightful Select had previously reported that Strickland was originally scheduled to take time off after All In London. However, it was pushed back, as Strickland was unsuccessful in his attempt to capture the Unified Title from Kazuchika Okada at the Forbidden Door PPV. After the match, Strickland was attacked by Wardlow, thus writing him of AEW television. During the attack on Strickland, Wardlow, who had just returned from a labrum injury that kept him out of action since the spring of 2024, tore his pectoral muscle in the process. Wardlow is expected to be out 6 to 9 months.
Ahead of Saturday’s Full Gear, Strickland took to social media teasing a possible return during the event.
