Former AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker spoke briefly with Sports Illustrated during their red carpet event on Friday.
Baker confirmed she is not retired from professional wrestling. “I would not say I’m retired, no.” When asked if she feels good enough to get back in the ring, she answered by saying, “Yeah, maybe.” She also revealed that she is no longer working full-time as a dentist due to some wrestling fans being a little passionate, sometimes for their own good and for her own safety. “It got a little carried away sometimes with some scary wrestling fans wanting to come kill me because I’m a bad guy.”
She further added that she loves all the talk about her that is going on. “I just love that the fans are still talking about me. Keep the chatter up because I love it. Stay tuned.”
Baker’s last wrestling match was back on the November 13, 2024 episode of AEW Dynamite, where she defeated Penelope Ford. She suffered a mini-stroke in November 2023 that kept her out action for 10 months. Baker also served a short suspension in the summer of 2024 after a backstage altercation with MJF.
During his recent appearance on the latest episode of the Yo Josh Martinez Podcast, AEW head Tony Khan commented on Baker’s AEW status by saying, “I would expect to see Britt back in AEW. I just don’t want to say when.”
