AAA

AAA Announces Roster Split
This week AAA officially (finally) announced the roster split between AAA-Evolucion (expected to be AAA USA) and AAA-Fusion via their website. “Evolucion” is AAA’s newest TV show and “Fusion” will obviously be the Fusion-TV show. The rosters will come together for the “Sin Limite” TV show (AAA’s main show) and big shows (like “TripleMania” and “Rey de Reyes”). The roster split will not come into effect until after TripleMania in June. The split is far from balanced and Evolucion gets the LARGE majority of the main stars with Fusion’s much smaller. Numbers wise they’re pretty close but a HUGE majority of Fusion’s roster are guys that have been used infrequently over the past few years (though alot of them are great wrestlers and might get to be on TV again because of this). One weird thing to me is that Aerostar is a part of the Evolucion roster while the rest of Fuerza Aerea is on Fusion which makes zero sense and means he will continue to be buried down the roster. El Consejo has been split up as well with Ano 2000 Jr. & Argos on Fusion with Texano & Silver Kain on Evolucion. Evolucion gets big stars like Texano, Ciber, Mesias, Perro Aguayo, Blue Demon, & Psicosis while La Parka Jr. is by far the biggest star for Fusion. Vampiro is also technically a star but he barely ever shows up so it’s kind of pointless. Hopefully this means they will try and build Fenix up as a huge star over there but they need some more names to even do that. Guys like Chessman, Silver Kain, and Electro are likely going to be big time overshadowed on Evolucion so their name value would have been better suited for Fusion. One glaring name left off of either roster is Ricky Marvin who just returned to AAA last week in a big angle where he joined Perros del Mal. The full rosters are below:

L.A. Park Leaves AAA
This week L.A. Park announced via his Facebook that he has quit AAA. It was very different from others that leave in that he was actually complimentary to AAA and actually thanked them (as well as the Pena family/Roldans). He said that he simply needs to be “free” and doing his own thing. A lot of people wandered about his future with AAA after he showed up at El Hijo del Santo’s TxT Press Conference last week, and now we know what it meant. This is a pretty big loss for AAA not only because Park is still a big name but also because he’s the current AAA Latin American Champion as well (even though it doesn’t get defended too often). You also have to take into account that Park is a known star in the U.S. (to an extent) and it was probably a certainty that AAA wanted to use him when they move into doing the AAA-USA stuff.

LUCHA SPOTLIGHT

Lucha Locura
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: LUCHA LOCURA

This week’s “Lucha Spotlight” goes on Florida independent wrestler Lucha Locura. He’s an exciting, high flying masked Puerto Rican luchador that currently is wrestling on the Gulf Coast, primarily Florida. We spoke about his background, training, future goals, the mask, and much more.

– JOSH BOUTWELL: Thanks for doing this interview, first off let the readers know what your name is and where you’re from.
– LUCHA LOCURA: My name Lucha Locura, I’m from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

– JB: Who were you trained by?
– LL: I was originally trained by El Profe (wrestler and trainer for Carlos Colon’s World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico), then the NWA in the states where at the time Terry Taylor was helping with booking and a bit of training. I got my ring knowledge from him.
– JB: How long have you been wrestling and what kind of style do you work?
– LL: I’ve been wrestling for 13 years. I have a mix of styles: bit of old school for ring knowledge, bit of Lucha, and can even do gimmick matches.
– JB: Where have you worked in the past?
– LL: I have worked in many places: Warzone (Australia), MCW (Australia), AWA (Australia), IWA (Australia), CSW (Florida), NHW (Florida), AWF (Australia), AWF (Mobile, AL), PWA (Australia), NWA, and it keeps going. Those are just a few.
– JB: Who were your influences growing up?
– LL: Growing up I used to watch Shawn Michaels, was a big fan. Then saw Malenko vs. Mysterio (the great WCW feud between Rey Misterio Jr. & Dean Malenko in the 90’s) that’s when I decided to learn Lucha. That was some great wrestling.
– JB: You’ve been wrestling on the Gulf Coast for a little bit now and are becoming one of the more exciting new guys around, who have been your favorite guys to work with thus far?
– LL: I really enjoyed working the Rayz Brothers (Scotty & Billy Rayz from Florida), I think in a singles match we could really pull off a hell of a match. CB Slade and I have had some good ones too. He’s a talented kid but yet again I say kid because he does not know what he is getting himself into.

– JB: Who do you want to work with?
– LL: I would like to work Paul London, we tore it up before and I think we can do it again. Hell of a guy.
– JB: “Locura” means “madness” (in Spanish) if I’m not mistaking, where did that come from? How did you get that name?
– LL: “Madness,” “crazy,” “weird” are some of the definitions that can be said about Locura. I came up with Lucha Locura because I’m different and unique, which I’ve been told was pretty crazy!!
– JB: What was the influence behind your mask?
– LL: Well, actually I’m working on my gear at the moment. I’ve got something very unique in mind in what I want so don’t be surprised if by Supercard (NHW in Northern Florida’s big SuperCard event in June) it’s different.

– JB: Masks are a huge part of the culture in Lucha Libre, what does the mask mean to you?
– LL: When I have the Mask on I feel like I can do things others can’t. I feel like a super hero. The mask is a culture, its the way of life for the Luchadors.
– JB: Outside of the Gulf Coast, who has been your favorite guys to work with?
– LL: Let’s see, London is definitely one of my favorites.
– JB: What are your goals for the future? Would you like to work in Mexico, TNA, WWE?
– LL: Well I take one step at a time. I’ve done Mexico before but I would love to work the real Mexico… AAA.
– JB: If you could wrestle anyone in the world who would it be and why?
– LL: If I could work anyone in the world I would have to choose PAC (former Dragon Gate wrestler and current WWE developmental wrestler), that guy is amazing.
– JB: Outside of wrestling what do you like to do?
– LL: Outside of wrestling I workout, play video games and watch cartoons… I’m a kid at heart.
– JB: What are your upcoming show dates and where can people go check you out live?
– LL: Last weekend of every month I’m at CSW (Mossy Head, FL) and June 15 NHW’s SuperCard ’13 (DeFuniak Springs, FL). Hope you could make it.
– JB: I will definitely be at SuperCard.
– JB: Where are some of the places people can follow you (Twitter/Facebook/etc.)?
– LL: Well on my facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Luchalocura or Luchalocura@gmail.com.
– JB: I really appreciate you doing this and I’m looking forward to seeing what you continue to tear it up on the Gulf Coast.
– LL: Thanks Josh, it’s a pleasure.
