Rey de Reyes Postponed Twice, Big Match Canceled
This past Sunday the huge “Rey de Reyes” iPPV was scheduled to take place in Guadalajara but due to a massive storm that hit the area, the venue the PPV would take place in was an outside venue, AAA was forced to postpone the event until the next night in nearby Zopapan. The problem there is that Monday was a National Holiday, the birthday of Benito Juarez (ironic because the event was going to be held in Auditorio Benito Juarez), forcing AAA to once again postpone the event because they were unable to secure permits needed to run the event at that arena on that day. AAA moved the show to Wednesday in the same arena. The bigger problem there was that AAA also announced that the scheduled Alberto el Patron vs. Brian Cage match had been canceled as well. It was speculated by most that Alberto was probably scheduled for surgery on Wednesday and had planned to gut through the Rey de Reyes event before having the surgery, but on Tuesday Alberto announced that he had a booking in Australia that conflicted with Rey de Reyes which is why he wouldn’t be appearing. Alberto made a post on Twitter claiming that he couldn’t “legally” get out of the booking without facing some legal troubles from those that booked him on that show in Australia.

AAA Staff Involved in Big Bus Crash, One Dead
A bus carrying much of the AAA staff was involved in a crash that happened on the way back from Guadalajara to Mexico City which resulted in several injuries, and one death. Irma Osorno was an office worker for AAA and she passed away due to injuries suffered in the crash. A separate bus was carrying the AAA wrestlers which was not affected.

New Stars to Lucha Underground, Renewed for Second Season
It has been reported that several new stars will start up with Lucha Underground at the next set of TV Tapings. Some names that have been mentioned are AAA’s Bengala, Sonjay Dutt, and Rey Misterio Jr. himself. Also, it has been reported by the Wrestling Observer that El Rey plans to renew “Lucha Underground” for a second season and that an announcement should be made before the end of season one.

More World Cup News
The Wrestler Observer reported that AAA plans to have one of the teams representing Mexico in their upcoming May “World Cup of Lucha Libre” event be a team from a rival promotion. They had planned for CMLL to be that team and that mutual sponsor Victoria (a Mexican beer company) approached CMLL to try and convince Paco Alonso to do it. Paco of course refused like he does every year that AAA tries to get CMLL to do a co-sponsored event. Paco still holds a massive grudge against AAA for the way it’s founder Atonio Pena (and Konnan) left CMLL to form AAA. AAA is also in negotiations with All Japan, TNA, ROH, and others about bringing in teams. If TNA sends a team Manik (TJ Perkins), Tigre Uno, and Zema Ion seem like the no brainer team for them. AJPW doesn’t have a lot left in the form of flyers and AAA may actually be better of looking to Great Muta’s Wrestle-1 promotion who Alberto el Patron has worked with in the past.

AAA 03/15 “Rey de Reyes” iPPV Results
1) Ludxor & Venum def. Carta Brava Jr. & Gran Apache
2) Fabi Apache, Pimpinela Escarlata, & Mascarita Sagrada def. Taya Valkyrie, Mamba, & Mini Abismo Negro
3) Bengala, Super Nova, & Drago def. Daga, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, & Super Fly
4) AAA Cruiserweight Title: Hijo del Fantasma (c) def. Fenix to retain the title!
5) Blue Demon Jr. def. Villano IV
6) Angelico, Jack Evans, & La Parka Jr. def. Los Hell Brothers (Averno, Chessman, & Cibernetico)
7) Rey de Reyes Torneo Finals: Texano Jr. def. Aerostar, Psycho Clown, & El Mesias
8) Rey Misterio Jr. & Myzteziz def. Perro Aguayo Jr. & Pentagon Jr.
* NOTES *
– AAA honored the woman that died in the bus accident this week. The crowd was nowhere near as big as it would have been on Sunday.
– Ludxor pinned Apache in the opener with a Splash, good match.
– After the second match Hijo del Fantasma, Pentagon Jr., and Joe Lider all hit the ring and attacked the tecnicos. Pentagon said he would break Rey’s arm tonight and Fantasma said he would destroy Fenix.
– Drago pinned Pirata in the third match with the Dragon’s Tail.
– Fantasma/Fenix was as great as expected. Fenix almost had Fantasma with the Fire Driver but Fantasma kicked out and then came back and pinned Fenix with his own Fire Driver finish. Fantasma convinced Fenix to shake his hand after the match and then jumped him. Dorian Roldan, Konnan, Taya Valkyrie, and Perro Aguayo Jr. ran out and continued to beat Fenix down. Rey Misterio Jr. ran out and made the save to a huge ovation. The announcers suggested Rey would form a group with Fenix and Myzteziz.
– Blue Demon vs. Villano replaced the Cage vs. Alberto match and it was pretty good. It got bloody and Demon eventually submitted V4 before they issued Mask challenges to each other.
– Blue Demon came back out for the Trios Match and eventually ended up helping the tecnicos win with a chair to to Ciber. Mesias then ran out and attacked the tecnicos and ripped off Parka’s mask.
– In the Rey de Reyes Finals Aerostar did a massive dive off of a light tower onto the other wrestlers. He was eliminated soon after with a Spear from Mesias. Parka came back out and attacked Mesias leading to Psycho Clown hitting a Psycho Bomb on Mesias to eliminate him. Psycho and Texano had a long brawl which ended with the referee doing his stupid rudo gimmick and refusing to count for Psycho and fast counting for Texano. When will AAA learn that no one likes that stupid rudo referee crap they always pull? It’s cheap, uninteresting, and stupid.
– Rey looked great in his return and ended up pinning Pentagon clean after a Mexican Destroyer.

Tigre Uno Re-Signs with TNA
This past week TNA announced that former AAA Cruiserweight Champion and current TNA X-Division star Tigre Uno (aka Extreme Tiger) has signed an extension with TNA. No word on how long the extension is for but it is expected to be a one year deal. Tigre signed with TNA early last year and after a solid feud with The Great Sanada over the X-Division Champion Tigre was seldom used and sometimes even jobbed out in minutes as the year progressed. Hopefully TNA will use the high flying Tijuana native more in 2015 as rumors of a possible Lucha tag team for him have popped up.
