Man that final Smackdown always feels like running a triathlon. It’s so exhausting to get through. What it amounts to is a two-hour commercial for WrestleMania complete with all of the polished video packages that will be featured this Sunday before the matches. I now know why there are two matches on the pre-show. It’ll take about an hour and a half to get through all the videos alone. I think the video packages should be shown in the pre-show. There’s no reason to show them before the match begins. You already know why you want to watch. It’s just time wasted that could be spent having a great match.

The fatal four-way match was what it was. I really could care less about either of the teams aside from Kidd and Cesaro. It boggles my mind that The New Day is involved with WrestleMania at all since they’re as cold and lifeless as a cadaver. It wasn’t anything too exciting. When will The Usos learn that they should probably save the over-the-top rope splash for bigger events? One day it’s going to cost them. The human body isn’t designed for that kind of impact night after night. Save your bullets, guys.

The WrestleMania Axxess stuff was really a waste. In years past, they at least showed you the exhibits and stuff, but all we got were wide shots of the convention center and a brief, brief look at the memorabilia section. They also had quite a few technical issues on the show. They showed the video package for the Intercontinental Title match, but there was no sound in the beginning. Then we randomly heard Renee Young laugh and then the audio straightened out. Live TV, you know?

The main event was a lot of fun. From what I heard, the boos towards Roman Reigns were incredibly loud. They must have turned the crowd microphones down. The cheers for Daniel Bryan seemed quiet even though you could clearly see the entire arena doing the “YES” chant. It should have been louder. The action was fine, and they left the crowd happy by letting Bryan score the pinfall on Big Show. Bryan had a lot of help, but he was the one who went over in the end. This was a real treat because in year’s past, there were zero main eventers on the final Smackdown before WrestleMania. You can’t say that this year.

Bump of the Night: The over-the-top rope splash
Match of the Night: The 8-man tag team match ** 1/4

Final Rating: * 1/2
