Alberto el Patron returns to WWE
In last week’s Wrestling Observer, Dave Meltzer claimed that Alberto el Patron had been telling people he was taking the entire month of December off to spend with his family, but as most everyone saw at Sunday’s WWE “Hell In A Cell” PPV, Alberto made a surprise return facing John Cena for Cena’s United States Championship. Oddly enough it was Zeb Colter (aka Dutch Mantell) that introduced him and sat at ringside the entire match. Alberto and Zeb were part of a feud that saw Alberto facing Jack Swagger, who Zeb was managing during Zeb’s conservative republican gimmick a few years ago. Alberto won the match clean and in doing so became a double champion as he is still the AAA World Champion. Meltzer claims that this is something that WWE has been planning for weeks, but Alberto did not tell AAA he was for sure leaving until Saturday. Konnan spoke on the MLW Podcast last night and said that WWE simply offered him more money than AAA could afford to pay him. Alberto told AAA that he was going to work all of the dates that he had previously agreed to work which would be 11/2 (TV Taping in Reynosa), 11/15 (TV Taping in Juarez) and 12/05 (“Guerra de Titanes” PPV). He also previously agreed to take part in Rey Misterio Jr.’s ZZInc. Tour which will be 11/7, 11/19, 11/20, 11/21 and 11/22. If he is going to honor his AAA dates I would imagine he will honor his dates with Rey’s tour. Konnan claimed that he would be flying out to San Diego to have a meeting with Alberto at WWE’s RAW show and that they would finalize everything there.
Big Ryck Retires
Lucha Underground season one star Big Ryck, who wrestled in WWE and TNA as Ezekial Jackson/Big Zeke, announced this past weekend that he was retiring from the wrestling business. It was never said whether or not he was going to come back for season two but now that seems to be a forgone conclusion.
Weekly AAA Stars Coming to Zapopan
This week AAA and a local promoter in Zapopan announced that he would be hosting live AAA events every Thursday from 11/05 through 12/10 in Zapopan along with Lucha classes as well.

– Taurus pinned Jack in the third match with a Taurus Driver, and then after the match Fantasma said that La Sociedad would win all the titles. He said he was defending his Cruiserweight Title at Guerra de Titanes and Texano wants Garza Jr. at the show.
– Electroshock replaced Myzteziz in the Main Event and then got pinned by Rey. Mundo attacked Rey after the match and even jumped Electro as well when Electro tried to pull him off Rey. Daga, Steve Pain, & Pirata ran out and attacked Electro as well but Rey and Psycho made the save for the now tecnico Electroshock. Pirata and Pain had previously been aligned with Electroshock in the past but accused him of abandoning him.

“Dia de Muertos” Coming to iPPV
CMLL announced that their “Dia de Muertoes” (Day of the Dead/Halloween) event on 10/30 will be streamed live on 10/30 on cmll.cleeng.com. The price has been announced as $6 American (100 Pesos) but it may be a deal where they raise the price as it gets closer to the show date.
CMLL Losses Another TV Show
Recently Mexico City based television network CadenaTres announced that it would be closing its doors. The channel has been airing CMLL’s Tuesday Arena Mexico events since 2007. That show is the only show “over the air” in Mexico City that CMLL had left on TV, and now the only show they will have on TV at all in their home base (Mexico City) will be the Arena Mexico shows that air on 52MX. CMLL seems to have been shocked over the issue and was even taping this Tuesday’s event despite the fact that it will now never air as the network will close its doors officially on Friday (they air CMLL on Saturdays). As AAA seems to continue to grow their presence around the world CMLL’s presence continues to shrink in their own country.
Mistico/Sin Cara Changes His Name Again
This week the original Mistico/Sin Cara made his in-ring return to Arena Mexico and once again changed his name in the process. He had originally announced that he was changing his name from Myzteziz, which he used in AAA, to Mistic 2.0 but was mocked unmercifully by fans about the horrible name. He announced at the All-Elite show that he would now be known as Caristico which may be even worse than Mistico 2.0 was. He just simply combined the “Mistico” and “Sin Cara” names together to make one horrible name.
Maximo Forced to Change Name
This week CMLL Heavyweight Champion Maximo revealed that he was being forced to change his name because of a trademark dispute CMLL has had with a t-shirt company that had the rights to the name (used for a cartoon character aimed at children). CMLL trademarked “Sexy Maximo” and this is the name they will be calling him going forward though everyone else will still just call him Maximo.

Hijo de Rey Misterio in America
The newest Hijo de Rey Misterio (I believe the third luchador under that name) will be working a series of matches in America this weekend in the Chicago area (Berwyn, IL on 10/24 and Aurora, IL on 10/25). He will be facing Silver Tiger (who I have never heard of) on both nights. There is a slew of other Independent luchadors from both America and Mexico being brought in. The only names I recognized were Skayde Jr. and Yakuza. That is the first time I’ve seen Skayde Jr. listed on a show in probably two years. Hijo de Rey Misterio was trained by Rey Misterio Jr. and Hernandez and I THINK this will be his first matches in America.
