AAA

More Info on the new AAA English Language TV Show
In this week’s Wrestling Observer Dave Meltzer made mention of the previously talked about English language TV show that AAA has been working on. He said that the show will NOT be broadcasted in the United States because AAA signed exclusivity with Lucha Underground. The show will be broadcast in other English speaking countries instead and will be called “AAAA Lucha Libre Worldwide” with Meltzer describing it as being similar to AXS TV’s New Japan “World Pro Wrestling” show. Former WCW announcer Chris Cruiser, who was one of the broadcasters on the infamous “When Worlds Collide” PPV, and Hugo Savinovich will be doing commentary over matches AAA tapes for their TV shows in Mexico.

Rey Misterio Jr./AAA Pay Issues
Meltzer also spoke about the continuing issues between Rey and AAA. He said that the pay issues have all be caught up between the two sides and AAA doesn’t owe him money anymore, but that still the two sides have not agreed yet on him returning.

Conflicting Stories on Rey Misterio’s Lucha Underground Contract
For months now the Wrestler Observer has claimed that Rey Misterio Jr. has signed a deal for two seasons with Lucha Underground, but this past week Super Luchas reported that Misterio had signed for just season two and would likely be heading back to WWE after season two. The Observer once again said this week that Rey did, in fact, sign on for two seasons and claims to have confirmed that with someone in Lucha Underground and someone in Rey’s circle. The Observer also claims that there is an option in the contract where Lucha Underground can extend the deal to four seasons but would need to tack on extra money in that case.

– Pentagon Jr. came out as the show opened and said that Sexy Star refused to defend the belts with him so he would do it alone.
– Apache used the ropes to pin Venum in the opener. Venum complained to the referee so Apache took him out with a chair for his complaints.
– In the fourth match Villano pinned Electroshock to advance to the finals.
– Sexy Star did not show up for the Mixed Tag Title match and Joe Lider even stood in Daga and Taya’s corner despite being Pentagon’s partner recently. Suicide ran out and helped to even the odds a little during the match and Pentagon ended up winning clean. After the match Pentagon vacated the titles because he no longer had a partner, but wanted to prove he could win it alone.

CMLL
All-Elite Moving Nights
This week All-Elite and CMLL announced that All-Elite will now be running shows every Wednesday from Arena Mexico rather than the Sunday night shows they had been running.. All-Elite had already taken over the Sunday night Arena Mexico events, but considering the poor crowds they have drawn for most shows they have decided to switch things up and move nights. CMLL typically does not run any events on Wednesday night and that now means that Thursday is the only night that CMLL/All-Elite don’t run a show. CMLL will once again be taking over the Arena Mexico show and CMLL also runs at Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, Monday is Arena Puebla, Tuesday is Arena Mexico and Arena Colisdeo Guadalajara, Wednesday will now be All-Elite at Arena Mexico, Thursday off, Friday will be Arena Mexico, Saturday will be Arena Coliseo.

Crazy vs. Felino Hair Match Signed
This week All-Elite announced that the Super Crazy vs. Felino Hair vs. Hair Match that the two have been teasing on All-Elite events has officially been signed for the 02/28 All-Elite event at Arena Mexico. That will be All-Elite’s final Sunday event at Arena Mexico before moving to Wednesday’s. They also revealed at that press conference that Arturo Beristain (who wrestled as Hijo del Gladiador) was the head booker of All-Elite. Beristain is also a booker for CMLL so the connection between CMLL and All-Elite is pretty obvious. At the same press conference All-Elite revealed that they were bringing the huge failure of a tournament, Liga Elite, in March. The tournament was horrendous last year and no one seemed to care.

WWE Announces Huge Cruiserweight Tournament
This week the WWE announced a massive 32-wrestler Tournament that will take place in July called the “Global Cruiserweight Series” that will be highlighting cruiserweight/light heavyweight high flyers. WWE is expected to bring in outside talent from around the world along with cruiserweights already in WWE to take part in the tournament. It should be expected that at least a few luchadors from Mexico will make their way up to take part in this tournament along with La Sombra, Kalisto, and Sin Cara II who are already in WWE.
