Caristico Returning to America
Last week Pro Wrestling Revolution announced that CMLL/All-Elite star and former WWE and AAA star Caristico (aka Mistico, Sin Cara, and Myzteziz) will be making his return to America on the 03/26 Santa Rosa, CA PWR event which will also feature the return of Hijo de Misterio (I’m not sure if it is the original one or the newer one that has been showing up but it is definitely not Rey Misterio Jr. or Rey Horus/Hijo de Rey Misterio II). This will be Caristico’s first appearance in America since he left the WWE in 2013.

Lucha Underground on ITunes
This week Lucha Underground was officially added to the Itunes Store, which is something Luhca Underground has been saying for awhile would happen. Season One is up for $45 in HD and $35 in SD while Season Two will be $40 for HD and $30 for SD. New episodes will be added to the Season Two folder the day after it airs first on TV.

Fenix and Jack Evans Added to WrestleCon
This week WrestleCon announced that Fenix and Jack Evans have officially been added to the WrestleCon lineup which already featured Prince Puma, Aerostar, Flamita, Cage, Ivelisse Velez, Catrina, Drago, and ring announcer Melissa Santos. Fenix will be teaming with Aerostar and TNA’s Andrew Everett against Jack Evans, Flamita, & Drago in a trios match at WrestleCon’s SuperShow.

AAA/Lucha Underground Stars Coming to Japan
This week former AJPW star Akebono held a press conference for his newly created promotion Royal Road. He said that on the promotions debut show on 04/20 there would be a showcase match featuring AAA and Lucha Underground stars. No names were announced but should be soon.

Lucha Event in Dallas
This week a Lucha Libre event, run by Martinez Ent., was announced for WrestleMania weekend on 04/01 in Dallas, Texas. La Parka is listed on the poster (but it is unclear if it is L.A. Park or La Parka Jr.) along with Magno, Ultimo Ninja, Violento Jack, Tigre Uno, Jinzo, Chicka Tormento in others. There is also a Lucha Underground logo on the poster along with a silhouette of three wrestlers that are obviously Fenix, Pentagon Jr., and Drago. I would assume they are just going to announce them in the coming weeks.

AAA 02/27 “Perro Aguayo Jr. Tribute Show” Arena Neza Results

2) Billy Boy, Nygma, & Punker def. Cirujano, Eterno, & Super Nova
3) Australian Suicide & Jack Evans def. Cuervo & Escoria
4) Trofeo Arena Nea Steel Cage Match: Los Perros del Mal (Pentagon Jr., Joe Lider, & Kahn del Mal) def. The Psycho Circus (Monster Clown, Murder Clown, & Psycho Clown)
* NOTES *
– Originally Daga was supposed to be in the Main Event but was injured so Kahn del Mal, who was Perro del Mal’s Business Manager and a member of Aguayo family, took his place in the match.

AAA 03/04 “Sin Limite” TV Taping Toluca Results
1) Super Fly & Carta Brava Jr. def. Ludxor & Venum
2) Nino Hamburguesa, Mascarita Sagrada, & Goya Kong def. Gran Apache, Taya Valkyrie, & Mini Psycho Clown
3) Taurus & Hijo de Pirata Morgan def. Drago & Aerostar
4) Los Xinetez (Escoria, Cuervo, & El Zorro) def. The Psycho Circus (Murder Clown, Monster Clown, & Psycho Clown)
5) Rey de Reyes Torneo Cibernetico Semifinals: Pentagon Jr. def. Octagon Jr., Hijo del Fantasma, & Fenix
6) Triple Threat Bull Terrier Match: El Mesias def. Dr. Wagner Jr. & Texano Jr.
* NOTES *
– Show was sold out.
– Pentagon Jr. opened the show to pay tribute to Hayabusa, who was one of Pentagon’s favorite wrestlers growing up and a huge influence on him. He has said in the past that his mask design was actually influenced by Hayabusa. The lights went out and a Japanese symbol appeared on the screen. The symbol apparently stands for “Dragon.”
– Gran Apache interfered in the opener by throwing a beer in Venum’s face leading to a German Suplex from Super Fly for the pin. He continued to assault Venum and Ludxor after the match.
– The surprise luchador in the fifth match was a new Octagon Jr., who had been teased all night from AAA. The new Octagon was revealed, via Twitter by AAA, as Fireball/Flamita under the new gimmick:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CcwjfUrUsAAY1gB.jpg
– The last Octagon Jr. now wrestles in WWE as Kalisto. He only appeared once on AAA TV under the Octagon Jr. mask.
– In the Rey de Reyes match Fantasma eliminated Fenix first and then Octagon Jr. eliminated Fantasma leaving Pentagon vs. Octagon which will likely be a feud they are going to do a lot of. Pentagon then pinned Octagon, after some help from the rudo referee, which means it will now be Pentagon Jr. vs. Villano IV vs. La Parka Jr. vs. Blue Demon Jr. in the finals of Rey de Reyes.
– In the Main Event Psycho Clan ran out and got involved leading to Mesias getting the pin on Wagner. A big brawl between the four ensued after the match.

AAA 03/11 “Sin Limite” TV Taping Arena Naucaplan Lineup
1) Argenis, El Mexicano, & Estrella Divina vs. Mamba, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., & Xandao
2) Dinastia, Fabi Apache, & Nino Hamburguesa vs. Gran Apache, Mini Psycho Clown, & Taya Valkyrie
3) Drago, Fenix, & TBA vs. Averno, Chessman, & Ricky Marvin
4) Garza Jr., Jack Evans, & La Parka Jr. vs. Pentagon Jr., Taurus, & Villano IV
5) The Psycho Circus vs. Dr. Wagner Jr., Texano Jr., & El Mesias
* NOTES *
– This is the first time Ricky Marvin has been listed under his real name in AAA since May of 2014. He just wrestled as Bengala on a AAA TV Taping in early February and works in Lucha Underground under that name so it is weird he is appearing here as Ricky Marvin. It is unclear whether this is a onetime thing or if they are doing away with the Bengala name/gimmick.

AAA 03/23 “Rey de Reyes” San Luis Potosi Lineup
1) Octagon Jr., Fabi Apache, Mascarita Sagrada, & Pimpinela Escarlata vs. Taurus, Taya Valkyrie, Mini Charly Manson, & Mamab
2) AAA Trios Titles: Los Xinetez (c) vs. Aerostar, Drago, & Fenix
3) AAA Tag Team Titles 3-Way Tables, Ladders, & Chairs Match: Los Hell Brothers (Averno & Chessman) (c) vs. Daga & Joe Lider vs. Australian Suicide & Jack Evans
4) Rey de Reyes Torneo Finals: Blue Demon Jr. vs. Villano IV vs. La Parka Jr. vs. Pentagon Jr.

6) AAA World Title Tournament Finals: Texano Jr. vs. El Mesias

New Japan Announces 2016 Super J-Cup
This week New Japan Pro Wrestling announced that they would be holding the 6th ever Super J-Cup in August featuring some of the best junior heavyweights in the world. This will be the first Super J-Cup since 2009 and the first time a luchador will be featured in the tournament since Ricky Marvin appeared in the 2000 Super J-Cup. Before that Damian 666 and Dos Caras appeared in the 1995 Super J-Cup and Eddie Guerrero (as Black Tiger) and Negro Casas appeared in the first Super J-Cup in 1994. The Super J-Cup is typically one of the better Tournaments in all of wrestling with some of the best high flyers appearing when NJPW holds it. They should start announcing participants in the coming months. The Super J-Cup will be hosting stars from CMLL, NJPW, Dragon Gate, Kaientai Dojo, Pro Wrestling NOAH, Pro Wrestling Zero1, Ring of Honor, and Ryukyu Dragon promotions in the tournament.

INDY & OTHER NEWS

Hayabusa Passes Away
On Thursday Japanese star, and one of the most influential high flyers of the 1990’s, Eiji Ezaki aka Hayabusa passed away as a result of a brain hemorrhage. Ezaki was trained by the famed FMW Dojo in the early 90’s and then was sent to Mexico to train and wrestle in 1993. Ezaki adapted the Hayabusa masked gimmick while training with legendary trainer Rey Misterio Sr. and debuted the gimmick in Japan as part of the historic 1994 Super J-Cup. As Hayabusa worked with CMLL and formed a successful tag team with Ultimo Dragon in the promotion. Hayabusa’s high flying style won over the Mexican audience quickly and upon his return to FMW in Japan he became a big star for the promotion. He caught the attention of American audiences in 1998 with an incredible performance alongside Jinsei Shinzaki, aka Hakushi in the WWE, against Rob Van Dam and Sabu in a remarkable tag team match at ECW’s 1998 Heat Wave PPV. Hayabusa was most known for his feuds with Mr. Gannosuke, The Gladiator (Mike Awesome), and Atsushi Onita. In 2001 Hayabusa suffered a broken neck when he slipped off the ropes attempting a Springboard Moonsault which caused him to be paralyzed. Hayabusa’s injury was such a huge blow to FMW, because of his popularity and considered the heart and soul of the promotion, FMW folded just a few months later. Following his injury he began working with the Dragon Gate promotion in the 2000’s behind the scenes and then even regained some control of his legs and was able to walk again, with the help of a cane. In 2015 Hayabusa along with other Japanese businessmen reopened FMW as a promotion with Hayabusa in an executive producer role. I send my condolences to the Hayabusa family and R.I.P. to one of the greatest high flyers the pro wrestling world ever saw.
