We reported earlier that shortly before Saturday night’s WWE Smackville event, WWE had announced that Finn Balor was suffering from an undisclosed injury and was not cleared to appear at the event.
Balor posted to Instagram Sunday (view below) with a picture of himself in the hospital, confirming that he missed last night’s Smackville event in Nashville due to illness.
Last night prior to the event, WWE did not announce the nature of the injury. However, POST Wrestling had previously reported that Balor was dealing with a “24-hour bug type situation.” Fightful reported that Balor was diagnosed with the stomach flu.
Ali took Balor’s place last night against Shinsuke Nakamura at Smackville in a losing effort for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
As of this report, there is no official word from WWE that Balor will not be cleared for his advertised match this Tuesday on Smackdown Live against Dolph Ziggler.
