AEW is back on Wednesday and we open up with CM Punk in action on Dynamite for the first time.
“The Best In The World” CM Punk vs. “The Infamous” Bobby Fish
Punk gets a massive ovation and “CM Punk” chants as he comes down. He’s wearing his long tights again tonight. This is the first time that Punk and Fish have ever been in the ring together. Punk and Fish mat wrestle early on but it quickly breaks down with Fish kicking Punk in the gut. Fish takes Punk down and puts him in a chinlock. Punk tries to fight out but eats a series of Muay Thai knees from Fish. Punk comes back with a series of his own knees and an Elbow Drop and then a chinlock of his own. Fish shoves Punk into the ropes but Punk runs him over and catches Fish as he went for a leap frog and slams him.
Punk hits a series of slams for a one count and then goes for a Go 2 Sleep but Fish grabs the top rope to block it. Fish hits a series of strikes and an Eddie Guerrero style Slingshot Somersault Senton for one. Fish hits a Snap Suplex for a nearfall and then goes right back to a chinlock. Punk fights out again and clotheslines Fish over the top to the floor.
Punk hits a Tope Suicida sending Fish crashing into the barricade. Back in the ring, Punk goes up top but Fish immediately rolls back to the floor to avoid him. As Punk climbs through the ropes, Fish sweeps Punk’s legs causing him to crash on the apron. Fish hits a Running Back Elbow for another nearfall. He hits a Back Suplex and then hits a modified Dragonscrew Leg Whip.
Fish goes to work on Punk’s knee hitting a Knee Breaker and then putting Punk in a modified Knee Lock. He hits another Dragonscrew and tosses Punk back out to the floor where he tosses him into the barricade. Fish continues to work on Punk’s leg and then the two exchange some stiff forearms on the outside. Fish rolls Punk back in the ring after laying him out with a knee to the gut.
Fish continues beating down Punk and working on his knee in the corner. Fish lifts Punk up to the top rope and he climbs up with him but Punk hits a series of elbows knocking Fish back down to the mat. Punk hits a Flying Elbow Drop literally hopping off one leg as he hit it. Punk and Fish exchange strikes again but as he stumbled and grabbed his knee Fish targeted it with a roundhouse kick to the knee.
Fish swings with a Roundhouse Kick but Punk ducks only to eat a Back Kick. Fish hits the ropes but Punk catches him with a Leg Lariat and then a Neckbreaker. Punk hits the Flying Knee in the corner and a Shortarm Clothesline for two. Punk goes for the GTS but Fish blocks it and counters with a Dragonscrew Leg Whip! Fish hits a Sliding Clothesline!
Punk surprises Fish with a Jackknife but Fish bridges out into a Powerbomb attempt only for Punk to block it and hit the GTS for the pin!
Winner: Punk via pinfall (Go 2 Sleep)
Malakai Black’s vignette from last week where he talks about destroying the Nightmare Family and how he forced Cody to take measures he never has taken before to beat him airs. Black says this wasn’t about a pin and he says he isn’t done with the Nightmare Family.
MJF w/Shawn Spears & Wardlow vs. Bryce Donovan
Donovan is introduced as being from Boston. MJF offers a handshake but smacks him and whips him into the corner before nailing the Heat Seeker for the pin.
Winner: MJF via pinfall (Heat Seeker)
MJF calls Boston a “shit hole” but calls them lucky because they got to see him do what he does best. He says what he does best is pinning shoulders on mats and “banging rats” but he’ll have to skip the second part because he’d rather stick his penis in a blender than bang the Boston rats. He mocks their accents and then turns his attention to Darby Allin.
The fans start chanting for Allin and MJF says it makes sense that they would cheer for him because Boston loves to cheer for losers. MJF says Allin made the mistake of interrupting him a few weeks ago and then he threw the gauntlet down by saying that MJF could never break him mentally. MJF laughs and says that’s ironic since Allin is too scared to show up to work anymore.
MJF says that now that Allin is out of his hair there is nothing stopping him. He says that it doesn’t matter who wins at Full Gear because he is the future AEW World Champion. Sting’s music hits but no one walks out, which causes MJF to start laughing hysterically and making fun of the crowd.
The lights go out and footage of a JPEGMafia concert is shown with Allin beating up a MJF look alike. Sting then appears int eh ring and attacks The Pinnacle with his bat! MJF retreats but Allin appears in the crowd! MJF straight up SPRINTS away and Allin attacks Spears!
Allin pulls out a skateboard covered in tacks and he and Sting continue to beat down Wardlow and Spears. Allin challenges MJF to a match at Full Gear!
Tony Schiavone interviews Dr. Britt Baker backstage and reveals that Baker will face Abadon in a “Trick or Treat Match” (No DQ Match) that if Abadon wins she gets a title shot. This match stems from a match they had on the Jericho Cruise that Baker walked out on.
“The Spanish God” Sammy Guevara (c) vs. “All Ego” Ethan Page
Members of The Inner Circle, America Top Team and Sky are all banned from ringside. Guevara sprints to the ring and hits a Pump Kick that knocks Page out to the floor. Guevara hits a Fosburry Flop onto Page on the floor! Guevara throws Page over the time keeper’s table into the barricade. If Guevara loses then he must leave Inner Circle and if Page loses then Inner Circle gets to hand pick which members of America Top Team they face at Full Gear.
In the ring, Page and Guevara exchange strikes and then Guevara backflips over a charging Page and connects with a dropkick. Guevara hits a Snap Suplex for one and Tony Nese is shown watching at ringside. Page fights back with a series of elbows only for Guevara to lift him up into the air and into a punt kick followed by a Superkick.
Guevara climbs up top but Page crotches him and climbs up top with him. Page drops Guevara across the top rope with a Super Backbreaker!
Page goes for Ego’s Edge but Guevara blocks it and hits a series of elbows. Guevara hits the Springboard Cutter and then a Standing Spanish Fly for a nearfall. Page rolls to the floor and Guevara hits a Shooting Star Press onto Page on the floor. Guevara goes for the GTH but Page elbows him repeatedly and then hits an insane Iconoclasm for two.
Page climbs up top but Guevara leaps up with him and goes for a Spanish Fly only for Page to block it and just yeet his ass off the top followed by a clothesline for two. Page lifts Guevara up to the top and goes for a Super Ego’s Edge but Guevara pulls a playbook out of Rey Jr.’s book with a Super Rana! Guevara goes for a Standing Shooting Star Press but Page moves only for Guevara to roll him up anyway for the pin!
Winner & STILL TNT Champ: Guevara via pinfall (rollup)
Page attacks Sammy and Scorpio Sky runs out and they beat Sammy down. The Inner Circle hits the ring and chases The Men of the Year off.
Jericho calls them the “Jackasses of the Year” and he says the last thing Page has beaten of any prominence was himself in his hotel room last night. Jericho says the match at Full Gear will also be a Minneapolis Street Fight. He says they will reveal which members of ATT will face them next week.
In the back, Eddie Kingston and Bryan Danielson cut dueling promos on their match for Rampage on Friday. Kingston says he talks about his depression and anger he deals with every day and says Danielson can’t tell him anything about hard work until he’s walked a day in his shoes. Danielson says that’s the Eddie Kingston he wants to fight. Danielson says he’s been through it too and he doesn’t complain about it. He says that he and millions of others walk through it and work their asses off. Danielson says he knows Eddie works his ass off and he says that he and Moxley are two of the toughest wrestlers he’s ever known but despite that he will prove he’s the best.
Backstage, Lucha Brothers challenge FTR for a match at Full Gear.
TBS Championship Tournament First Round
“The Woman of 1,000 Holds” Serena Deeb vs. Hikaru Shida
This is a rematch of the match they had several weeks ago in which Deeb won. Deeb takes Shida down and the two exchange holds and counters early on. Deeb sweeps Shida’s leg and drags it outside and wraps it around the ring post several times. Shida manages to pull Deeb face first into the post, though.
Deeb almost gets counted out but Shida stops the referee and drags Deeb back in the ring. Shida hits a Superplex bringing her up over the top rope back into the ring for a nearfall. Shida tries to go back up top but Deeb stops her.
Shida hits a Flying Knee and then a Roaring Elbow. Shida goes up top and hits a Missile Drop followed by a Delayed Vertical Suplex for two. Shida goes for a Powerbomb but Deeb escapes and hits a series of uppercuts. Shida rolls Deeb up but Deeb counters and hits an elbow. Shida blocks a Lariat and hits an Axe Kick. Shida hits a Straight Jacket Suplex and a Dominator for two!
Shida hits a Shining Wizard! 1…2…NO Deeb kicks out! Shida misses the Katana and Deeb takes her leg down and then hits a Dragon Screw. Deeb goes for a Spinning Toe Hold but Shida kicks Deeb through the ropes to the floor. Shida pulls out a chair and tries to dive off it but Deeb tosses the chair away, so Shida dives off the ring steps with a dropkick!
Shida rolls back in the ring but Deeb rolls back out and then sweeps Shida’s leg and starts slamming it into the ring post. She puts Shida into a Hanging Figure Four around the ring post! Deeb goes for a Figure Four but Shida rolls her up for two. Deeb goes for a Swinging Neckbreaker but Shida hits a Question Mark Kick and then a Knee and goes for Katana but Deeb rolls her up in the Half Crab! Deeb pulls Shida t the center of the ring and puts her in a modified Figure Four! Shida manages to grab the bottom rope to the break the hold.
Deeb grabs Shida’s trophy but Shida kicks her and goes to hit Deeb with it but stops herself. Deeb then pokes her in the eyes and rolls her up! 1…2…NO Shida kicks out! Deeb goes for the Deebtox but Shida rolls her up for the pin!
Winner: Shida via pinfall (rollup)
Deeb attacks Shida’s knee after the match and slams a chair into it repeatedly. Deeb slams Shida’s knee into the mat and then locks in the Serenity Lock. A bunch of referee’s run out to try and stop her but Deeb refuses. AEW agent Jerry Lynn runs out and screams at her to stop and she finally does.
In the back, Schiavone interviews Lio Rush and Dante Martin and reveals that Mike Sydal has been injured meaning their match for Rampage has changed to a singles match between Martin and Matt Sydal. Lio Rush says his in-ring debut will come at the right time and this Friday he and Martin will teach Sydal a lesson.
World Title Eliminator Quarterfinals
Jon Moxley vs. Pres10 Vance
Moxley immediately German Suplexes 10 and beats him down in the corner. Moxley goes for another Suplex but 10 elbows him and then charges at Moxley only for Moxley to backdrop him over the top. Moxley tosses 10 into the ring steps and then he starts ripping at 10’s mask and bites him. Moxley throws 10 into the ring post and 10 is busted open.
10 tries to fight back with a Pump Kick and a series of elbows but Moxley destroys him with a Lariat. Moxley goes after 10’s cut before hitting the Paradigm Shift for the pin.
Winner: Moxley via pinfall (Paradigm Shift)
In the back, FTR accepts the Lucha Brothers’ challenge and says that their titles are coming home at Full Gear. Tully says that they have hit the reset button and LB don’t have any idea what is coming. Dax says at Full Gear Fenix and Penta will have to fight them, not wrestle, at Full Gear.
Cody Rhodes comes out to a bunch of boos.
Cody says that he hears what the fans are saying and what “old wrestling managers online” are saying. He even talks about the finish to the match on Saturday and he says he even thought about “hitting a different move” (the Pedigree) and that he would pop up afterwards and suggesting he would do that and then immediately abuse his EVP role and challenge for the World Title. He says that is the easy way out and he doesn’t roll like that.
Cody says everyone is quick to give credit to the one that signs the checks but reminds everyone to remember the guy that built the bank. Cody throws his shoes into the crowd and tells people to walk in his shoes. He talks about his life and how his wife is too hot for him and that both his father and brother are Hall of Famers. He says he knows what the easy way out would be but he will not “turn.”
Cody says he loves the fans, so if anyone thought that he got a little too Hollywood and got his eyes off the goal and he apologizes to them and his Nightmare Family, as well. Cody apologizes to Arn and says it’s an honor to stand in the ring with him. They shake hands and Cody tells Arn that he is right.
Andrade walks out and asks Cody who he thinks he is. He says the fans don’t like Cody and the people don’t like Andrade but the difference between them is he doesn’t care about the fans. Andrade says that Cody makes stupid choices like his stupid tattoo. He says that getting in Andrade’s business was even more stupid. Andrade says that if Cody wants he will make him his little bitch and then the lights go out.
When the lights come back on Black is standing in the ring. He spits mist in Cody’s face and he and Andrade attack him. They beat Arn Anderson down, as well. PAC runs out and sends Andrade to the floor before kicking Black in the face. PAC hits a series of kicks on Andrade and both he and Black retreat. PAC goes for a dive but Andrade and Black retreat up the ramp and PAC sits down in the ring before flipping them off.
The Dark Order (Colt Cabana, Stu Grayson, Evil Uno & John Silver) vs. The Elite (Adam Cole, Kenny Omega, Nick Jackson & Matt Jackson)
The Dark Order are dressed up in different costumes. Stu is the God of War and Colt Cabana is dressed like Brandon Cutler. Silver, Uno and Reynolds are dressed up like cowboys. The Elite are dressed up like Ghostbusters. Cutler is dressed up like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
Cole and Silver start off against each other and Silver tosses him across the ring twice. Cole kicks Silver but Silver answers with kicks of his own followed up by a headbutt. Silver hits a Backdrop and then tags Uno into the match. Cole pokes Uno in the eyes and tags in Omega. Uno goes for a Splash but Omega turns around and Uno hits the Proton Pack that Omega was wearing. Omega tosses Uno to the floor where Nakazawa – dressed as a big baby – Splashes Uno. In the ring, Omega taunts Uno and tags Matt Jackson. Matt runs into a knee from Uno and then rides him like a horse. Uno runs Matt over with a Big Boot and tags Grayson.
Dark Order take turns quick tagging and beating on Matt. They hit Scoop Slams on all the members of the Elite and then taunt them.
Grayson jumps off the back of the Bucks into a Rana on Omega! He hits a Double Pele on the Bucks! Cabana makes the hot tag and hits a Springboard Asai Moonault on the Bucks and then the Flying Apple on Omega. Cabana hits an Atomic Elbow on Omega and then a Spinning Head Scissors on Nick. He hits the NY Skyline on Matt for a nearfall.
Cabana hits the Flying Apple on Cole but eats a Superkick from Nick. Silver tags in and he goes crazy with offense on everyone! Silver hits a Pump Kick on Nick and a German Suplex! Matt and Cole hit a Superkick Party on Silver. Matt tags in and the Elite go to work on Silver.
Omega hits a Snap Dragon on Silver and Cole lifts Silver up as The Bucks Superkick him right into a Brainbuster for two. Grayson broke up the pin attempt. All breaks loose with everyone fighting and hitting big moves on each other. Matt accidently kicks the referee and then he low blows Grayson. The rest of the Elite low blow the other members of the Dark Order, too.
The Elite put their Proton packs on and squash the Dark Order with them before stacking them on the mat. They hit a Triple Bomb on Cabana onto those proton packs. Cutler climbs in the ring as a guy dressed as a horse runs out along with Alex Reynolds and Alan Angels. The horse gets in the ring and Matt kicks him in the nuts. They then hit him with a BTE Trigger! Omega pulls the mask off revealing it to be Cutler with duct tape over his mouth.
The guy dressed as the Stay Pufft pulls his mask off revealing Hangman! Page Lariats Matt! Grayson hits a Golden Moonsault onto the Elite! Page hits the Dead Eye on Omega! Silver hits the Spin Doctor on Matt Jackson for the pin!
