Jim Ross says he’s not expected to miss any time away from AEW due to cancer treatments

On the latest edition of his Grillin’ JR podcast, AEW play-by-play announcer Jim Ross said according to his doctors, he is not expected to miss any time away from the commentary booth due to radiation therapy for a skin cancer growth just above his left ankle.

The 69-year old Ross is expected to undergo 22 radiation treatments on consecutive days, but will not need chemotherapy.

“It’s inevitable. It’s coming and I have to deal with it. I haven’t found myself buried in the minutiae of whether this is happening or that is happening,” he said. He has been dealing with this issue for over a year as the spot was getting bigger and bigger…It’s just a matter of dealing with the issues, gritting your teeth and moving on. That’s kind of what I’m doing,” he said. “I didn’t get the worst kind of skin cancer. Whatever that is, I don’t have it. It’s one of those deals. It’s part of the journey. I have to deal with it and I will deal with it, no doubt about it. It’s just a pain in the ass to get all these treatments.”

Ross said that while he was being evaluated, the doctors found two additional “spots” on his back that will also be removed.

This is Ross’ second round with skin cancer after he was diagnosed in 2016, followed by surgery in 2018.

From the entire staff at Wrestleview, we wish Ross a successful surgery and speedy recovery.
