Josh Woods debuts at Friday's AEW Dark tapings in Orlando

Current Ring of Honor Pure Champion Josh Woods made his AEW debut Friday at the Dark TV tapings which took place at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

During the second set of TV tapings, Woods lost to Shawn Spears.

Woods will be a free agent soon as ROH goes into a three-month hiatus in January 2022 to “reimagine” the company with a hopeful return in April. All contracted talent will be released as it has been said ROH will be looking to move toward using non-contracted talent when they return.

Woods defeated Jonathan Gresham for the ROH Pure Championship at the company’s Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view this past September. Woods was the 2017 ROH Top Prospect Tournament winner. Prior to joining ROH, he spent two years in WWE NXT.

It is expected that Woods will be at the Final Battle pay-per-view, which takes place on December 11 at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.
