AEW News Bits: Dynamite – Scott Hall Tribute, 2point0 get new names, WWE references, Bret Hart

The following are news bits coming out of Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite: St. Patrick’s Day Slam themed show.

Scott Hall Tribute and References

There were several references made to two-time WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall during the show. Hall passed away on Monday at the age of 63, after being taken off life support.

The show started out with Jim Ross using Scott Hall’s “Hey Yo!” catchphrase.

During the Hardys vs. Private Party, Matt set up Isiah Kassidy for the Razor’s Edge. However, Kassidy escaped the move before Matt could execute it.

Britt Baker wore nWo black and white Hollywood Hogan gear during her Steel Cage Match against Thunder Rosa. Excalibur said that she was “channeling the bad guy.” WWE Hall of Famer Sean Waltman took to Twitter to acknowledge Baker’s tribute.

2point0 gets new names, Chris Jericho references Kevin Owens and a WWE term

2point0 were given new names during the Jericho Appreciation Society segment.

Jericho said that Jeff Parker and Matt Lee (2point0), would no longer be using those in-ring names because saying they were “bad names from bad creative”. Jericho then ent on to say that Matt Lee will now be known as “Daddy Magic” Matt Minard and Jeff Parker will now be known as “Cool Hand Ang” Angelo Parker. Jericho also said during the same segment that he became aware of the former 2point0 thanks to a call from his “former best friend Kevin”, which is believed to be current WWE Superstar Kevin Owens.

Also during the segment Jericho stated that he is not a professional wrestler, but a sports entertainer, which is the term WWE uses when referring to their Superstars. He ended the segment by saying that “this date commenced the era of the sports entertainer in AEW.”

The Young Bucks tease a possible arrival of Bret “Hitman” Hart

In a backstage interview segment with Tony Schiavone, FTR were talking about why they fired Tully Blanchard as their manager, and then were confronted by The Young Bucks.

Matt Jackson told FTR “No matter what you do, even if you hire the Best There Is, the best manager in the world, it’s not going to matter, because deep down inside, you’re always going to remain the second best tag team in AEW.”

Jackson was making a reference to WWE Hall of Famer Bret “Hitman” Hart. Last week after FTR fired Tully Blanchard, Dax Harwood took to Twitter calling out Hart.
