AEW Rampage Live Coverage – 8/12/22 (Former NXT Superstar debuts)

We go to the arena with Bryan Danielson’s music hitting to a great ovation. Tony Schiavone is already in the ring.

Danielson said he has been wrestling 23 years and he doesn’t know if he will ever be 100 percent, but needs to live 100 percent and will never stop wrestling. He said his career will not end Wednesday against Daniel Garcia. Garcia came out and said that Danielson was his hero and he’s not afraid to admit it.  He said it sounds like his hero is afraid to lose and is coming up with excuses.  He then said Bryan retires and comes back and has to stop putting Garcia through this as it hurts him. Garcia said it makes him want to hurt Bryan. He said that he is going to hurt Bryan so bad it will end his career. Garcia said he is going to end Bryan’s career and that he will be called the best technical sports entertainer.  Bryan keeps hurting him and that makes him want to hurt Bryan.  Bryan said he’s a wrestler and he’s tired of this “sports-entertainment bullsh—.”  Bryan said Garcia was one of the people he suggested when they created the Blackpool Combat Club.  He was impressed by Garcia once wrestling for 60 minutes and now he’s listening to Jericho’s BS.  He told Garcia that if Bryan really was his hero, did he want to be the best technical sports entertainer or the best technical wrestler in the world and and he’ll leave that up to Garcia. Bryan then left the ring.

Tay Conti and Sammy Guevara came out to a bunch of boos. Tay was introducted at Tay Melo. The commentators did mention that Tay and Sammy getting married last weekend.

AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship Match: Tay Melo and Sammy Guevara vs. Dante Martin and Skye Blue

Martin starts out by trash talking Guevara. Tay and Sky Blue started fighting which went to the outside. Martin and Guevara starting things off with a brawl. Both men now exchange blows and chops. Tay is tagged in and then Sky Blue comes in. Tay turns to kiss Sammy and then turns around to a crossbody from Blue. Tay comes back and has Blue in a converted neck-crank. Tay goes for the pin, but only gets a two count. Blue comes back with kicks to Tay and a kick to the knee. Blue bounces off the rope, but Guevara grabs Blue and trips her up only to get hit by Tay.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Back from the break, Blue and Tay are brawling. Martin is tagged in and then Guevara comes in. Martin tosses Guevara on the outside. Tay grabbed the leg of Martin as Guevara rolls back in the ring. Martin launches a huge Canadian Destroyer on Guevara, goes for pin but only gets two count. Blue is tagged in and then comes off the top rope and hits blue. Tay then comes back and hit Tay with a Tay-KO and get the pin.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Parker Boudreaux (former NXT Superstar Harland) with Slim J vs. Sonny Kiss

Boudreaux whispered something in Kiss’ ear and then nailed him. Boudreaux charged Kiss, but Kiss moved out of the way, but Boudreaux picked up Kiss and slammed him down. Boudreaux picked up Kiss and them drove Kiss down on the mat for the pin.

WINNER BY PINFALL: PARKER BOUDREAUX

We go to a backstage segment with Andrade El Idolo and Rush and a verbal exchange with Private Party over partners for the Trios Tag Team Championships.

Gunn Club vs. Danhausen and Erick Redbeard

Redbeard and Colten start things off as Redbeard shoves Colten. Austin is then tagged in and Erick shoves down Colten who goes to the outside. Austin goes to the outside and then both men come back in the ring. Redbeard tags in Danhausen.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Back from the break Austin is beating Danhausen, but Danhausen is able to tag in Redbeard. Colten is tagged in. Redbeard sends Colten to the floor and Austin to the floor. Redbeard round house kicks Austin. Redbeard goes for the pin, but Colten breaks it up. Redbeard gets hit by Billy Gunn when the ref was distracted. Austin hits the Famasser on Danhausen who was tagged in and gets pinned.

WINNERS BY PINFALL: GUNN CLUB

Billy then grabs a mic and tells his boys they need to continue to prove themselves and toughen up. He said that he missed The Acclaimed. He then said he got them a match for Wednesday. Billy then walked away. As Colten and Austin were heading toward the back, Stokely Hathaway was in the crowd. He tried to give Austin and Coltenhis card. When Colten seemed interested in taking the card, he was pulled away by Austin.

We go to a backstage interview with Lexy Nair and Swerve In Our Glory who said will allow Private Party to grace them with their presence and it was then announced that Swerve In Our Glory will defend the Tag Titles against Private Party next Friday night.

FTW Champion Hook comes out to the ring to a big pop. Tony Schiavone is in the ring. Schiavone says that Hook was one of the best debuts in AEW. Tony asks Hook if their is an open challenge for the FTW Title. Hook then says Yup. Music hits and reality TV star Zack Clayton comes out and challenges Hook for the title and says that he is going to bring the title to New York and take it away from trash New Jersey. He challenges Hook to the FTW Title for next week’s Rampage and Hook accepts by shaking his head and raising the title.

The crowd was flat for Zack Clayton. They did not seem to know who he was.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Back from the break, Mark Henry introduces Cassidy and Daivari. Diavari trashes the Minneapolis fans. Cassidy started to say it was time for the main event, but Henry cuts him off and says that is his line. Excalibur then runs down the card for Wednesday.

Orange Cassidy vs. Ari Daivari

The crowd starts chanting Freshly Squeezed. Cassidy starts off with trying to put his hands in his pockets. Daivari grabs the mic and gives Cassidy on last chance to join the Trustbusters and says all Cassidy has to do is lay down and the four of them can get out of town. Cassidy lays down and then Diavair goes for the pin but Cassidy rolls out of the way and then rolls outside of the ring. Daivari and Cassidy lock up. Cassidy then puts his hands in his pocket and then drop kicks Daivari. Daivari then takes down Cassidy and rolls out to the ring as the Trustbusters jaw at Best Friends.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Back from the break Daivari is in a headlock and is able to grab the ropes for the clean break, but Daivari reapplies the hold. Cassidy’s arm drops twice, but Cassidy comes back with putting his hands in his pocket and rams Diavari into the corner to break the hold. Cassidy grabs Daivari’s head and slams it into the turnbuckle. Cassidy then blocks a DDT from Diavairi. As Cassidy comes back, Diavari takes down Cassidy, but both men are down. The ref counts and both men get up at about the ten count. Cassidy goes for the Orange Punch, but it’s countered by Diavari. Cassidy DDT’s Diavari and goes for the pin, but only gets a two count. Slim J goes on the apron, but Chuck Taylor trips him up and then Cassidy takes out the other Trustbusters on the outside with a dive. Cassidy is back in the ring and hit Diavari with an Orange Punch for the win. The rest of the Trustbusters come in and take out Cassidy. Chuck Taylor and Trent come in to make the save but Parker Boudreaux Boudreaux comes in at takes out Cassidy, Taylor and Trent. Sonny Kiss comes down to make the save but turns on Cassidy and Boudreaux continues the beat down. Rampage goes off the air.

Tonight’s show wasn’t bad. It certainly did flow well with a lot of action and talking segments that were not very long for a one hour show. Parker Bordeaux has potential, but still seems very green in the ring. Its appears that Tony Khan wants elevate him to main TV right away after his Dark debut a few weeks ago.
