AEW star Sting to participate in Great Muta’s final match

Pro Wrestling NOAH announced on Saturday morning that Sting will team with The Great Muta at his final match. The event, called GREAT MUTA FINAL BYE-BYE, will take place on January 22, 2023 in Yokohama, Japan.

Pro Wrestling NOHA’ announcement notes the following:

“We are pleased to announce the participation of AEW superstar and international pro wrestling legend Sting at the GREAT MUTA FINAL ‘BYE-BYE’ event, which will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2023 in Yokohama. It was The Great Muta who came to the unexpected rescue of Sting On AEW Rampage: Grand Slam this week. This incident triggered him to partner with Sting at the Yokohama Arena event.”

Muta appeared at the end of the Sting & Darby Allin vs. Buddy Matthews & Brody King No Disqualification match on Friday night’s AEW Rampage Grand Slam episode, when he came down to help Sting by spraying mist in the face of Matthews. After Sting hit Matthews with a scorpion death drop for the win, Muta a Sting shook hands and then hugged.

Sting and Muta had a big rivalry in professional wrestling dating back to 1989 and the early 1990’s in WCW.
