According to report from Fightful Select, a WWE source said the reason they chose the O2 Arena for this year’s Money in the Bank is because they view the venue as the “MSG of England,” and it is a location WWE wanted to travel to.
It was was noted that this is why WWE did not book a stadium for MITB. Another source in the company said WWE said that “running a show of this magnitude helps establish the importance of Money in the Bank as one of their biggest PPVs.”
Furthermore Fightful Select notes even though there had been rumors Money in the Bank was done, it wasn’t seriously considered by WWE.
The report concludes that it was a collaborative effort in WWE for the dates and locations of the 2023 premium live event schedule, unlike 2022 when Nick Khan had received all the credit for booking the venues and selecting the dates.
The 2023 Money in the Bank premium live event will take place on Saturday, July 1.
