Report: Alcohol may have played a part in death of a former NXT Superstar

According to People, a source close to the family of former NXT Superstar Sara Lee, said that alcohol may have played a part in the sudden death the 30-year-old mother of three.

The report notes that the insider says Lee “was heavily drinking the night she died.” She was reportedly found later her husband Cory James Weston, who is better known by the in-ring name of Westin Blake on the independent scene.

People further notes that according to the source – “He [Westin] had just come back from working in Orlando and took the kids somewhere and came back and then found her. It was sudden and that it wasn’t intentional – it was accidental.” The insider further added that Lee was “never that person you would think would do this – there were never any signs.”

Lee’s passing was initially announced in a Facebook post by Lee’s mother, Terri on Thursday, October 5, 2022. At that time the cause of death was not disclosed.

“It is with heavy hearts we wanted to share that our Sara Weston has gone to be with Jesus. We are all in shock and arrangements are not complete. We ask that you respectfully let our family mourn. We all need prayers especially Cory and her children.”

The report from People notes Lee began career in the small town of Hope, Michigan, graduating in 2010 from Meridian High School, where she was on the track team and competed as a powerlifter.

In 2015, Lee was voted the female winner of Tough Enough Season 6. As one of the two winners of she earned a $250,000 WWE contract and then joined the WWE Performance Center. For the next year, she wrestled as Hope, which was the name she picked after her hometown. She appearing for non-televised NXT live events alongside Mandy Rose. Lee’s only wrestled in one television match that was against Alicia Fox. WWE released her from her contract in 2016. Following her release, she went on to train at the Team Vision Dojo in Orlando, Florida.
