Peacock and WWE Network adds History of the World Heavyweight Title special

Peacock and the WWE Network has added a new compilation special – “Best Of WWE: The History Of The World Heavyweight Championship” to its programming lineup.

The Bump’s Matt Camp hosts the four hour special featuring WWE Hall of Famers Ric Flair, Sting, Harley Race, Undertaker and more.

WWE used the World Heavyweight Championship belt from WCW on SmackDown with the first brand split after the company acquired WCW in 2001.

The official synopsis for the show below: 

“Featuring iconic battles such as Ric Flair vs. Harley Race, Edge vs. Undertaker, and Randy Orton vs. John Cena, these are the biggest matches in the history of one of sports-entertainment’s most prestigious titles, the World Heavyweight Championship.”

The following matches are featured in the special.

-Ric Flair vs. Harley Race from NWA Starrcade 1983

-Ric Flair vs. Sting from the NWA/WCW Great American Bash 1990

-Elimination Chamber from WWE Survivor Series 2002

-Triple H vs. Batista from WWE Vengeance 2005.

-Edge vs. The Undertaker – WWE WrestleMania 24

-John Cena vs. Edge – WWE Backlash 2009

-John Cena vs. Randy Orton from WWE TLC 2013

Raw Superstar Seth Rollins and SmackDown Superstar AJ Styles are set to square off in the World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Finals in Saudi Arabia on May 27 to crown a brand new champion. Triple H introduced the new belt during the April 24 episode Raw. A tournament with triple threat matches to determine the final two competitors began on the episode of Raw the following week and then continued on SmackDown.

The new title and its holder will be exclusive to Monday Night Raw.
