According to Fightful Select, CM Punk reportedly pitched himself joining the Blood & Guts Match as the mystery partner with the Blackpool Combat Club, after it was revealed that Bryan Danielson broke his forearm at Forbidden Door II.
The match is going to be the Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, Claudio Castagnoli), Konosuke Takeshita and a mystery partner vs. Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, the Young Bucks and a mystery partner.
Also, according to Fightful Select, Punk did voice his issues with Jon Moxley in the past, however, it was also noted Moxley was said to be open to the idea of having Punk part of the match.
As of this writing, Fightful said it is unknown if Punk expected the offer to be accepted or not. However, the report further stated an AEW source said that “neither team would want him.” Fightful Select concluded their report by saying that Punk has expressed a desire to work with The Elite in the past, but that Punk was told that he will not be involved, as the fifth members for each team have already been chosen.
AEW Blood & Guts will take place at the TD Garden Arena as part of Dynamite on July 19.
