Title Changes Hands At Saturday Night’s WWE SummerSlam

The WWE Women’s Championship changed hands twice at Saturday night’s WWE SummerSlam at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

During Saturday night’s WWE SummerSlam, Bianca Belair won the Women’s World Title after pinning Asuka. However, IYO SKY ran down to the ring and cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase contract, to then become the new WWE Women’s Champion.

There was a point in the match when Charlotte Flair dropped Belair over the top rope. Belair hit the ring steps hard on the way down and then clutched her knee, as she screamed in a lot of pain. WWE medical personnel came out, as referee Jessika Carr was checking on the condition of Belair. As the medical personnel helped Belair walk to the back, Belair turned around and hobbled her way back into the ring, to continue in the match.

Below are excerpts from Mike Tedesco’s SummerSlam recap of how the title change went down.

Flair and Belair are down in the ring. WWE medical personnel have left Belair instead of pleading with her to come to the back with them. Flair and Belair exchange blows in the center of the ring. Belair can hardly stand. Belair ducks a pair of chops and goes for a KOD on Flair. Flair gets out of it. Belair sends Flair into Asuka, who was trying to get on the apron. Flair takes Belair down and applies a Figure Four Leglock before transitioning into the Figure Eight. Belair screams in pain. Asuka crawls into the ring and spits Blue Mist into Flair’s face! Belair then rolls Asuka up to win the title!

IYO SKY runs down to the ring alongside Bayley! Bayley takes Charlotte Flair and Asuka out with Sky’s Money in the Bank briefcase. In the ring, Belair fights off Bayley, but Sky quickly wipes out Belair. Sky hits Belair with the briefcase in the knee before hitting her over the head with it. Sky gives the briefcase to the referee. We’re getting a cash in!

The bell rings, and this championship match is official. IYO SKY hits Bianca Belair with the Over the Moonsault for the victory!
