Tony Khan opens 9/2 AEW Collision addressing CM Punk’s termination

AEW CEO, President and General Manager Tony Khan opened up Saturday night’s episode of Collision addressing the termination of CM Punk.

Khan addressed the television audience in a video and addressed the live crowd in person at the United Center in Chicago. The live crowd at the venue booed Khan.

Khan said CM Punk endangered the lives of innocent people backstage at All In at Wembley Stadium in London. Khan also said that for the first time in AEW, he felt that his security, his safety, and his life were all in danger at a professional wrestling show. He then went on to say that those within AEW should not come to work and feel endangered and with that, he had to make the decision to terminate Punk.

Khan also stated again, from the statement released on Saturday prior to Collision, that he came to the decision to terminate Punk based on the recommendation from outside legal counsel and an AEW disciplinary committee.

Fans who were in attendance at the United Center in Chicago on Saturday night for Collision posted clips (courtesy of Fightful) of Khan addressing the live crowd at the United Center in Chicago, which can be seen below.
