News from AEW Dynamite: Adam Cole’s injury; Jay White attacked; Updated Collision lineup

Below is some notable news coming out of Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite.

Adam Cole is injured and will require surgery.

Adam Cole, wearing a cast on his leg, came out on the show using crutches. He and MJF did an in-ring promo. Cole revealed that when he hopped off the stage on last week’s episode, he broke his ankle in three different places and tore ligaments, which will require surgery.

Cole said that he will come back as soon as he possible can.

Just as Cole was about to say that he and MJF were going to relinquish the ROH World Tag Team Championships, he was cut off by MJF and said he did not want to end their title run like this. MJF instead proposed he defend the titles in a handicap match at WrestleDream this Sunday.

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. took to social media to post pictures of Cole’s injury, while commenting on it as well. You check out Baker’s post below.

The close of Dynamite ended on a cliffhanger.

The last segment of the show saw “Hangman” Adam Page and Swerve Strickland sign the contract for their match at this Sunday’s WrestleDream PPV. The AEW cameras then went backstage, showing “mystery” group attacking Jay White. The group ganged up on White and tossed into a wall. An attacker wearing a devil mask stared into the camera and then grabbed it, with the feed cutting out and the show coming to an end.

The mask was similar to the one that MJF wore at the All Out PPV last year and on multiple occasions since that time.

It should be noted that Jay White and MJF had a heated exchange of words earlier in the show, in which White said he would be truly “elite” champion when he beats MJF for the title.

Nick Jackson will challenge Rey Fenix for the AEW International Championship on next week’s show.

Jackson defeated Brian Cage and Claudio Castagnoli in a three way eliminator match to earn a championship opportunity.

An All Star Eight Man Tag Team Match has been added to this Saturday’s WrestleDream go-home episode of Collision at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, WA.

All Star Eight Man Tag Team Match: Bryan Danielson, Wheeler Yuta, and FTR vs. Ricky Starks, Big Bill and Aussie Open. Zach Sabre, Jr. will be on commentary.
