Tony Khan addresses Chris Jericho allegations: “I can’t speak to unsourced internet rumors”

During Saturday night’s AEW Worlds End post-media scrum, Tony Khan took questions regarding recent sexual harassment allegation regarding Chris Jericho.

A reporter from USA Today asked if Jericho had been investigated for sexual misconduct at any time during his time with AEW. Khan responded by saying that he could not speak on “unsourced internet rumors” and then circled back to his earlier comments as it pertains to wrestler safety within the company.

Khan said the following:

“AEW is the safest company in the world…we have the best track record in safety…any time anyone has any kind of complaint, we have an open door, they can say it to me or anyone in the office and we would look into it.”

Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s Kevin McElvaney asked Khan about safety for the talent in the workplace and asked what has been done to prevent sexual harassment in the AEW locker room.

Khan responded with the following:

“I think it applies to women and men and is something we’re really serious about…“We’ve had a policy in place. I think anytime where there’s been something like that we would do everything we can to prevent itWell certainly if there was anything that came to light to me I would take it to the disciplinary committee,” he continued. “I think our disciplinary committee has been doing a great job and everybody knows they have an open line to me or anybody on that committee.”

The questions at the scrum were a result of Nick Hausman of Haus of Wrestling making allegations about Jericho behind the scenes in AEW. He compared Jericho to former film producer Harvey Weinstein who is currently serving 16-years in prison after he was found guilty for sexual assault and rape.

Hausman said the following regarding Jericho:

“There are issues with Chris behind the scenes, where I know a lot of people who have been hurt by Chris and his actions…There are a lot of questionable stories about Chris that will find their way out over time and when people are ready to hear those stories, will cast him in a different light…I mean look, Harvey Weinstein won a lot of Oscars, Harvey Weinstein produced a lot of popular films. Harvey Weinstein is now in jail…I’m not saying that is happening to Chris, but the narrative can quickly turn if you are hiding a lot of skeletons in your closet.“

The allegations pertain to now former AEW star Kylie Rae, who requested her release from the company in 2019. Rae has alleged that Jericho made a pass at her after she was asked to go to his hotel room, with the understanding that there would be other individuals in the room, only to find out that it was only Jericho in the room and no one else.

Rae later responded to Hausman with a heart emoji on X.

During the 2019 All Out Media Scrum, Tony Khan announced Rae had requested her release which was granted. Khan also noted the split between the two sides was “very amicable”.

After departing AEW, Rae briefly made appearances for IMPACT Wrestling. She no-showed the 2020 Bound For Glory pay-per-view, where she was scheduled to have a match against Deonna Purrazzo. Rae was replaced by Su Yung. The following month, Rae stated that she was no longer a professional wrestler and was unwell.

In June 2021 Rae wrestled for the NWA. In October of that same year, she announced that she was again stepping away from pro wrestling due to a relapse situation with her mental health. After getting a WWE tryout in December 2022, under the in-ring name of Briana Ray, she wrestled on the December 15 episode of Main Event, losing effort to Dana Brook.

Rae is engaged to independent pro wrestler Isaias Velazquez. Back on April 25, 2023, she announced they were expecting their first child together. On October 8, Rae gave to their child.
