Top star removed from AEW’s roster page; Free agents as of 1/1/24

Former AEW World Champion MJF’s profile has been removed from the promotion’s roster page on their website.

We have reported on Sunday that according to Fighful Select, MJF is expected to take time off from AEW, following his loss of the World Championship to Samoa Joe at the Worlds End PPV on Saturday night.

Fightful Select also noted that several sources they spoke with at the conclusion of the PPV, expect that MJF will be absent for quite some time from AEW programming. However, the publication said that his absence is expected to happen “almost immediately.” It was also said MJF has been dealing with several injuries, and that he wanted to see the storyline with the devil through until the end.

Furthermore, Fightful Select indicated that AEW has been giving MJF influence for his own creativity and that the company could insist that he stay on television.

The report concluded as it pertains MJF’s contract, noting that the belief has been that his current deal with AEW is up at the beginning of 2024. However, there are several sources from within WWE who have said no one in the company has talked with him. Also there are several in AEW that that believe he signed an extension with the company over a year ago and do not expect MJF would actually admit to signing a contract extension, as he has no longer been talking about the bidding war of 2024 in his promo’s.

Alex Hammerstone

Hammerstone reportedly had several years on his MLW contract. In the middle of 2023, he had requested his release from the promotion. Hammerstone and MLW worked out a deal in the middle of 2023 where he worked a few dates before he was eventually granted his full release.

Tony Khan also confirmed during the AEW Worlds End Media Post-PPV Media Scrum, that Andrade’s contract expired after the PPV. Khan also put over Andrade. He went on to put over Andrade. Khan said the two sides couldn’t come to terms on a new deal.

Based on recent reports and a tease from HHH on social media about a former champion returning to WWE, it is highly believed Andrade will return to WWE during the 1/1/24 Day 1 episode of Raw. Furthermore, it has been said there are many within AEW that believed Andrade wanted to be with his wife Charlotte Flair, who recently signed a new big money deal with WWE. Flair will also be out of action for nine months, after tearing her MCL, ACL and Meniscus during the December 8 episode of the Tribute to the Troops SmackDown special in her match with Asuka.
