City of Greensboro proclaims March 3 as “Thank You Sting Day”

The city of Greensboro has proclaimed that March 3 going forward will be “Thank You Sting Day.”

The proclamation comes following Sting’s last match taking place Sunday night at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view, which was held at the Greensboro Coliseum.

The Greensboro Coliseum also presented Sting, Darby Allin, Tony Schiavone Ric Flair and Jim Ross with special commemorative black baseball bats.

Sting and Darby Allin successfully defended the AEW World Tag Team Titles against the Young Buck.

Tony Khan announced during the Revolution Media Scrum, that tag titles will be vacated and that tournament will be held to crown new champions.

The very first NWA Clash of Champions, which featured Ric Flair vs. Sting for the NWA World Title, took from the Greensboro Coliseum. The show aired live on TBS on March 27, 1988. The match ended in a 45-minute time limit draw.
